As Senior Principal - Natural Resources Economist at EPS, you will lead an interdisciplinary team in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment. You'll be responsible for strategic planning to balance the requirements of the regulatory provisions and the needs of the client in a responsive, efficient and cost-effective manner. You'll manage large-scale projects with multiple stakeholders and interpret interdisciplinary scientific information, developing natural resource economic and financial models, ecological and human use services valuations, and benefit-cost analyses. You'll have opportunities to work with Montrose's multiple business divisions to provide comprehensive services to our clients.

A DAY IN THE LIFE



As a Senior Principal at MEG, you will be responsible for a full range of activities including:


  • Drive collaboration to set a growth strategy for the MEG Natural Resources Economics team supporting offshore oil and gas/wind development projects

  • Leverage ecosystem service valuation methodologies for site remediation (e.g., under CERCLA), oil spill emergency response and planning (e.g., OPA), offshore oil and gas decommissioning, project permitting, land development (e.g., NEPA), mitigation and compensatory restoration, environmental impact assessment (EIA/EIS), and natural resource damage assessments

  • Lead ecosystem service valuation related projects for both private and public sector for domestic and international clients

  • Lead business development and client engagement activities

  • Prepare technical reports outlining recommendations comparing and ranking different management or response alternatives against environmental, socio-economic, safety, and feasibility criteria to maximize the greatest overall benefit

  • Maintain confidentiality at all times

  • Exercise safe work practices by following all Company safety rules and OSHA regulations, including attendance at all required safety training programs

  • Participate in Company's continuous improvement programs and provide support to team efforts

  • Keep up-to-date and current on industry trends by maintaining professional certifications and completing formal training, reviewing professional publications, and attending professional workshops

  • Perform other duties as assigned


NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS



  • 15+ years of consulting experience, including environmental project support

  • MS in biology, ecology, or similar field; PhD preferred

  • Experience with NRDA, CERCLA, and RCRA

  • Experience with crisis management and spill response planning including development of assessment and sampling plans

  • Experience with habitat restoration including wetland environments

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Ability to interface with cross-functional teams and all levels of personnel/management

  • Able to work independently, managing multiple responsibilities (i.e. self-starter, self-motivated)

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills

  • Solid organization and time management skills

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability/willingness to travel
