Business Overview:

In the Global Finance Community, the U.S. Businesses Finance & Analytics (USFA) team has planning and analysis (P&A) and strategic finance responsibilities for Prudential’s U.S. Businesses and Functions. As part of the USFA, the U.S. Businesses Finance Center has responsibility for consolidating the monthly and quarterly financial results and leading the strategic forecast process for Prudential’s six U.S. Businesses: PGIM, Retirement, Group Insurance, Annuities, Individual Life and Assurance IQ.  This includes partnering with the individual business finance teams and Corporate Functions and developing presentations and analysis primarily for the COO and the CFO of the U.S. businesses with significant interaction and exposure to them and other senior leaders. In addition, the team provides financial support to the U.S. COO for Prudential’s quarterly earnings calls, which includes partnering with Investor Relations and staying current on key industry topics and competitors. Lastly, the team leads Innovation for the USFA organization with the goal to to optimize how finance associates interact with and leverage data and technology.

Job Description:

The Planning & Analysis Specialist is a key position that works closely with the various U.S. Businesses and the Global Finance Community in multiple capacities.  This individual will provide value-added, insightful and actionable analytics for the U.S. Businesses to help inform Senior Management to drive strategic decision making.  The role will serve as a liaison between the COO and CFO of the U.S. Businesses with the individual businesses and the rest of the Global Finance Community.  The candidate will develop a deep knowledge of Prudential’s U.S. Businesses strategy along with an understanding of each business.

The position will report to the Director, Planning & Analysis on the USB Finance Center team. The role is based in Newark, NJ, but there is flexibility on your geographical location; and there is an ability for hybrid work arrangement.

Key Responsibilities and Impact:


  • Consolidation of the P&A and monthly financial reporting process for the U.S. Businesses


  • Support of extensive sets of analysis, presentations, and adhoc requests for Senior Management


  • Business Knowledge and Strategy- in-depth understanding of the underlying performance and health of each of the six U.S. Businesses, including key business drivers/metrics and financial results, while also supporting the overall U.S. Businesses strategy. 


  • Financial knowledge- understanding of U.S. GAAP and Stat financial results, capital, and cash flows.


  • Drive continuous automation and improvement of processes and output of the team.


Qualifications:


  • Undergraduate business degree in Finance, Accounting or related business fields


  • 3+ years of experience in forecasting, planning and analysis, and financial reporting experience


  • Experience in working in Financial Services industry, particularly with Life Insurance, Annuities, Retirement and Asset Management


  • Ability to understand business fundamentals and business strategy


  • Superior analytical skills and financial modeling experience


  • Ability to interpret financial results extracting trends to provide valuable insights to the businesses and Senior Management


  • Strong and concise communication and presentation skills and ability to present to Senior Management with a strong executive presence


  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate extensively with key business partners and stakeholders to drive execution


  • Agile and organized with ability to prioritize and manage multiple demands


  • Ability to identify opportunities to better leverage existing and emerging technologies to complete tasks more efficiently and effectively


  • Advance degrees and/or relevant professional certifications/designations- MBA, CPA, and/or CFA), preferred
