Position Overview
Responsible for executing the strategic vision for the Reliability engineering team while clearly articulating and tying reliability and robustness to Hypertherm corporate initiatives, financials, and market segment objectives in a compelling manner to continually enable supportive coalitions across the business. Leads tactical execution of reliability deliverables. Who are you and the experience your bring

Improves/maintains relevant capital assets and tools required to verify and deliver industry-leading robustness and reliability of our systems to Hypertherm end users and partners.
Continually improve Reliability Engineering policies, standards, and procedures per best practices for effective, efficient, scalable results for the growing, multi-technology Hypertherm organization. This includes compliance to ISO9001 requirements, documentation, internal audits, equipment/gauge calibration, and reliability product verification activity.
Sponsors/leads FMEA, FTA, Hazard Analysis, and system safety assessments within New Product Development, sustaining engineering, and field defect programs, leading root cause correction as needed. Balanced/comfort with hands-on & analytic, as daily lab leader and reliability program leader.
Team Leadership:
Provides leadership to the Reliability engineering team. Responsible for associate selection, training, coaching, development, conflict resolution, planning, performance management, and recognition. Maintains a high standard for performance in a professional, supportive, and respectful manner. Fosters a team that promotes engagement, development, well-being, and team effectiveness. Builds organizational capability by developing associates, establishing mentors, and training. People and leadership skills include both with indirect (internal business functions, suppliers, user customers, external partners/OEMs), as well as direct reports.
Sustaining & New Product Development:
Drives the ability of the Reliability Engineering team to influence and assist business teams during New Product Development (NPD) programs, product enhancements, and quality improvement opportunities.
Impacts both the short-term project portfolio reliability efforts within Business Team offering, as well as long-term enduring reliability of the Hypertherm brand, cross enterprise, for Hypertherm users and partners.
Drives the reliability and design organizations toward fast failure/learning and verification of design margins, enabling system strength improvement and informed/timely business decision making. Prioritizes and balances large improvements in product robustness versus precise reliability measurement.
Serves as the voice of product reliability and robustness during the NPD stage gate process and design reviews, providing effective, actionable tasks and feedback.
Develops, implements, maintains, and improves reliability methods and processes. Manages key component, subsystem, and system robustness work for Hypertherm products, for use in a wide range of global end use environments.
Impact & Influence/Working Across Boundaries/Collaboration:
Ability to collaborate in a matrix organization and build effective relationships within global Hypertherm, while assuring continuity of key reliability initiative support.
Utilize and develop relationships to receive voice of the customer input and feedback with the regional and global departments, including but not limited to global technical service, sales, and product applications.
Customer Focus:
Understand end users' needs and expectations, and integrate these to improve products, services, and processes. This includes activities associated with new product and service development with business teams.

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

• Bachelors in STEM with 10+ years with technical leadership experience.
• Minimum of 5 years in project management.
• Proven ability to impact and influence multiple business teams with conflicting priorities and utilize problem solving techniques to meet business objectives.
• Experience mentoring/training the engineering community on complex technical issues.
• Knowledge of problem-solving and continuous improvement techniques and tools, including Lean/Six Sigma.
• Proficient in industry Reliability/Quality/Statistical/Data software tools (Minitab, SQL, Weibull, etc.).
• Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical leaders and associates.
• Passion for technology and innovation, ability to partner and collaborate with people at all levels.
• Experience in a related industry (welding, plasma cutting, laser, power supply) desired
• Black Belt Certification, ASQ Certified Reliability Engineer
• Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally if needed
