Job Description:

Position Overview:
The Vice President, Supply Chain & Operations for Custom Culinary® will lead the planning and directing of all aspects of Custom Culinary Supply Chain policies, objectives, initiatives and integration of processes that support the business delivery function for the unit. She or he will drive development of strategies for the Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Operations and Process Excellence functions to support and enhance Custom Culinary and Griffith Foods’ overall corporate strategy and objectives.
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Will be proactive in providing supply chain solutions based on best practices in alignment with the goals of the Unit, North America Supply Chain, and Global Supply Chain.

  • Partners with regional leaders to integrate and leverage existing operational capabilities and develop new capabilities to deliver growth and improve returns.

  • Serves as the functional leader and role model to foster a continuous improvement culture (LEAN/Griffith Performance Excellence), promote regionalization/globalization, measurement, accountability, empowerment, and a collaborative spirit within the company environment.

  • Oversight of the organization’s planning & logistics, manufacturing, warehousing, transportation, FSQA, Employee Health & Safety and Continuous Improvement functions.

Management:


  • Be the key Supply Chain resource for the US Business Unit and support the Regional/Global Supply Chain management through communication and interaction.

  • Is a member of the unit leadership team promoting alignment and collaboration in pursue of unit defined strategies and goals.

  • Responsible for the supervision of two plant managers, Director of Customer Service & S&OP, Director of Materials Management, Sustainability Manager, EH&S; Total salaried/supervisory staff of 21 people and approximately 120 hourly team members across 2 plants.

  • Direct and coordinate appropriate operations metrics, process improvements and organizational changes to drive continuous improvement. Set ambitious world-class standards that are measured, monitored and achieved/exceeded.

  • Integrate the Operations, Planning/Logistics, Process Improvement, Engineering/Capex, Food Safety and Quality Systems, and Employee Health & Safety towards common business objectives, global initiatives and company standards.

  • Implement best practices & procedures across all supply chain functions, sets teams targets and standards accordingly and regularly monitors performance. Manage budget and expense requirements.

  • Promote and support the North America and Global Supply Chain organizational structure.

Operations:


  • Align resources, priorities and systems to achieve an employee safe environment to supply wholesome food safe products with reliable and consistent production and service to meet the customer expectations and operating plans of the business unit.

  • Align plant operations toward consistent processes and performance.

  • Drive the implementation of consistent processes, technology and capabilities as well as other strategic initiatives leveraging best practices across the organization

  • Ensures operational compliances with required national and local agencies and manages relationship with relevant parties ensuring all statutory requirements are met. Ensure operations meet all BRC and customer audit criteria.

  • Create a strong and progressive plant leadership/management team through proactive talent management that is committed to continuous improvement of goal as productivity improvement, schedule attainment, and commitment to Employee and Food Safety requirements.

  • Ensures plant leadership/management team that promotes employee talent management and training that builds ownership and accountability of goals.

  • Process and ensure conformance to established practices through proper employee training programs.

  • Influence at all levels of the organization and develop strong working relationships with managers and employees, taking a proactive approach in addressing issues

  • Lead, coach and ensure building of a strong talent bench at the regional level. Also, support recruitment, mentoring and development of regional employees.

  • Utilizes LEAN Manufacturing techniques. Ensure consistent and efficient lean and flexible production systems based on continuous improvement techniques across manufacturing operations.

Planning/Logistics:


  • Develop, Integrate and continually optimize the key processes of Demand planning, Customer Service, Inventory control, “at risk” inventory management, MRP, Production scheduling, and logistics across the Canadian Supply Chain.

  • Establish an effective S&OP process across for the US business based on regional/global standards.

  • Ensure proper procedures and skills are in place to reliably supply customer order patterns and expectations while managing within the financial objectives of the unit.

  • Ensures appropriate capacity planning and initiates change when needed.

  • Supports net working capital goals and is a key member of the team.

  • Enable and lead the evaluation/use of co-manufacturers to enable effective capacity and contingency management.

  • Promotes development and incorporate use of business analytics to provide insights and guidance in operational effectiveness and opportunities for improvement

Engineering:


  • Coordinate and propose appropriate capital management program to achieve strategic goals. Oversee process for changes to all major capital project planning, facilities planning, purchases and technology.

  • Food Safety and Quality Systems:

  • Promote Food Safety and Quality systems program to accomplish customer and internal expectations. Implements, monitors and elevates quality control standards and procedures consistent with corporate objectives and industry Food Safety Standards (i.e. BRC).

  • Promote and support food safety initiatives through program and goal development, measurement, action planning and monitoring.

  • Ensure compliance with internal audit program, regulatory and customer expectations.

Griffith Performance Excellence (GPE):

  • Drive a continuous improvement mindset throughout the entire SC organization, through process and goal development, measurement, action planning, and monitoring. Ensure consistent and efficient lean and flexible production systems are in place and supported properly.

Globalization:

  • Promote a “One Griffith” community through identification of business opportunities for simplification and standardization. Leverage regional and global resources, technology, and assets to benefit from increased process and procurement collaboration.

Requirements:


  • B.S. in Engineering or related technical area; MBA desirable.

  • 10-15 years of leading teams in Supply Chain/Operations areas (Food Industry preferred)

  • LEAN/Six Sigma Certification essential.

  • Well-developed and demonstrable project management and presentation skills.

  • Very strong people orientation with proven leadership and team building skills.

  • Strong analytical, financial and P&L Skills
