What you will do:

The Mechanical Engineer will “lead” a test throughout the process from test design and planning through execution to completion including preliminary analysis of data results. Experience with component or system testing, test procedure development, and mechanical fluid or airflow system design, troubleshooting or operation. They are required to unusually own the testing process for individual test subjects to optimally and efficiently complete testing within the product area. They will conceive, develop, and evaluate plans for solving sophisticated testing challenges. A sophisticated level team contributor will assist in training of personnel in the laboratory as well as defining and supporting the implementation of operational improvement of testing.

How you will do it:

-Provide technical communications for test engineering to project customer(s).
-Plan and implement tests of chillers and components. This may include:


  • Participate in the development of and/or receive and review test specifications from customer group; seek out and acquire needs from other areas/teams who may wish to benefit from testing a particular subject.

  • Use guidance from the customer group(s) to facilitate test plans and identify resource (human, physical) requirements.

  • Meet with product engineering, product management, product technical support or equivalent groups to agree upon and issue test plans.

  • Work within the test engineering team to schedule tests and required resources.

  • Provide oversight and recommendations to test technicians for set up of data acquisition software configurations.

  • Work with labor, test support, and engineering resources to actively lead the test from set up to completion. This includes daily monitoring and planning, communication, direct data acquisition, review data acquired, provide engineering analysis of data acquired, problem resolution, and perform and complete testing in a timely fashion.

  • Clear understanding of chiller test data to guide the customer engineering teams to acceptance or assist in explanation of data results. 

-Drive, and participate with creation, of standard procedures, test standards and processes.
-Use experience to develop new procedures, processes, and resources as vital to provide more efficient, accurate, or sophisticated testing services.

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering

  • Works under minimal direction. Ownership of assignments, which are carried out collaboratively within lab team and customer groups. Spear-heads process initiatives within department.

  • Able to work in fast-paced, schedule driven work environment. Possess the agility/adaptability to quickly move from one task to another when required.

  • Strong people management & interpersonal skills; willing to confront issues in an open, but thoughtful way

  • Strong organization and problem-solving experience

  • Ability to guide or mentor less authoritative technical personnel within team

  • Strong group interpersonal skills, presentation skills

  • Validated strong financial and analytical skills (desired)

  • Excellent computer and data analysis/leadership skills with proficiency in Microsoft Suite Applications (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) as well as internet software and e-mail
