We are currently looking for a full-time Junior Geophysicist to support military munitions response projects.

Responsibilities:

• The employee will be responsible for managing on-site geophysical operations at assigned project locations primarily within the United States and its territories. Ability and willingness to work at international project sites in remote or austere locations is also desired.
• This position requires a willingness to travel (estimated at up to 75% during busiest periods) and sometimes for extended periods of time.
• Support site visits/bid walks in support of proposal development.
• Specific duties at project sites include, but may not be limited to, the following: coordinating daily geophysical operations with UXO site management; ensure field operations comply with governing work and safety plans; perform geophysical data collection; train non-geophysical or less experienced staff; troubleshoot equipment problems in the field; and ensure field data packages are complete, assembled and uploaded for home office data processors.
• Work closely with the Project Manager, Senior Project Geophysicist, Lead Data Processor and QC Geophysicist to coordinate project schedule and ensure production rates and quality metrics are met.
• When not working on a project site, the Junior Geophysicist will still work full-time. Home office duties may include technical training, assisting in preparation and/or review of technical memoranda or other project-related technical deliverables, or assist with equipment testing, maintenance and beta testing.
• May periodically support other Tetra Tech operating units with non-munitions related surveys and projects as schedule permits.
• Desired home base location would be Golden (and surrounding areas), Colorado; Oak Ridge (and surrounding areas), Tennessee; or Huntsville (and surrounding areas), Alabama. Relocation assistance is available.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree from accredited institution in Geology, Geophysics or closely related technical field of study is preferred.
• 1 to 3 years of directly related experience conducting geophysical operations at military munitions response project sites.
• Experience operating standard geophysical sensors (e.g., EM61-MK2) and AGC sensors (e.g., MetalMapper2x2).
• Experience with RTK GPS, RTS, line and fiducial positioning systems and methods.
• Knowledge of instrument-specific software for data collection and download.
• Experience conducting field operations under a DAGCAP-accredited quality system.
• Ability and willingness to learn new instruments, equipment, software, etc. in a field or virtual training setting.
• Current 40-hr HAZWOPER training with 8-hr annual refresher.
• Ability to work outdoors in various challenging field conditions (heat, cold, humidity, high altitude).
• Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time, while carrying or otherwise operating geophysical equipment.
• Ability to operate effectively with minimal direct supervision.
• Ability to work as part of a large, diverse team of professionals.
• Attention to detail in completing daily field notes, production logs and so forth using digital platforms.
• Willingness to support other Tetra Tech operations not related to munitions response (both geophysical and non-geophysical) as needed.
• Valid driver's license with a safe record.

Desired Additional Experience and Qualifications:

• Experience using geophysical sensors other than those listed above (greater preference given to candidates with experience using multiple sensor types).
• Experience collecting EM61-MK2 data using multi-coil towed arrays.
• Experience using positioning systems/methods other than those listed above.
• Experience compiling and maintaining Access databases.
• Experience processing QC tests and/or production geophysical data.
• Willingness to take on additional responsibilities commensurate with experience, with eventual goal of fulfilling Project or QC Geophysicist project role.
• Desire to eventually pursue professional geologist, engineer or geophysicist registration.

Compensation:

Salary commensurate with experience.
Salary Range: $55k - $75k
