Business Development Manager (Solar)
Location: Remote/ Durham, NC
Ecoplexus Inc. (www.ecoplexus.com) is a rapidly growing renewable energy developer and independent power producer (IPP), targeting the utility scale and municipal solar and storage markets. Headquartered in San Francisco, with offices in North Carolina, Dallas, Mexico City, Seoul, Tokyo, and Ho Chi Minh. Ecoplexus has grown at an annual rate of over 50% per year since its founding in 2009, and expects to complete approximately $500 million of projects over the next two years.
The Company has developed, built, and operates over 80 projects in the U.S. and Japan, and has a substantial development pipeline of solar, wind and storage assets in North America and Asia. We are seeking a talented self-starter, who is highly motivated and capable of assuming increasing responsibility in a dynamic growth environment.
Job Responsibilities
The Manager of Corporate Development will be responsible for evaluating acquisition, primarily project but may include corporate, opportunities and managing due diligence to support successful deal closings. The position will report to the Company's Director of Corporate Development.
Specific Responsibilities will include:


  • Managing project due diligence from term sheet to acquisition closing, working closely with development, permitting, real estate, finance, and engineering teams.

  • Identifying and quantifying key risks with potential project acquisitions and working with legal and commercial leadership to mitigate those risks.

  • Conducting outreach to developers and developing new relationships with potential partners for project acquisitions

  • Reviewing project acquisition opportunities and assessing whether it is a strategic fit and worth allocating company resources to pursue.

  • Working closely with the Director of Corporate Development to review research and information to develop and execute on strategic priorities

  • Collaborating with project finance teams to ensure financial model inputs and outputs are accurate and current

  • Managing detailed reporting of ongoing deal updates, project return profiles, and key project risks.

Required Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience and a strong record of accomplishment in relevant roles

  • Renewable energy, power industry, or real property/infrastructure asset acquisition experience required

  • Strategic transactions and business development experience

  • Skilled at analyzing opportunities and problems at arriving at clear decisions, utilizing detailed analysis

  • Strong project, process and organizational skills including creating and managing deal timeline schedules

  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Corporate development or investment banking experience preferred

  • Bachelor's Degree, and an MBA or Law Degree preferred

  • Experience working in MS Office Suite (Office, Excel, and Powerpoint) and Google Cloud Applications (Google Docs, Sheets, Presentations)
