JOB DESCRIPTION:
SAIC seeks to hire a Programmer/Analyst to support the Climate and Radiation Laboratory at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD. The successful candidate will participate/lead in the design and implementation of remote sensing inverse techniques, using microwave and infrared passive spaceborne sensors. Key responsibilities also include developing instrument simulations; performing sensitivity experiments, trade studies, software validation and data management. The candidate is expected to contribute to/lead publications, presentations, technical reports, and research proposals.
Qualifications
TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors and two (2) years or more experience; Masters and 0 years related experience
The candidate is expected to have demonstrated expertise in scientific software development. Experience in C++ Object Oriented Programming is desired. Other relevant languages necessary to successfully perform in this position
are FORTRAN, IDL, Matlab, and Python. Experience in AI methods is encouraged. Experience with/interest in infrared and microwave remote sensing techniques and satellite data applications is desired. Good knowledge of Earth Science data formats and experience in working with satellite datasets is desired. The applicant is expected to have a MS/PhD in computer science, mathematics, or Earth Science related disciplines. Good communication (written and oral) skills and a team-oriented approach are highly desired.
