TECHNOLOGY PRACTICE - DATAMARK® PUBLIC SAFETY GIS
Michael Baker International is a national leader in technology solutions supporting clients in local, state, and national government to solve complex problems with advanced technologies for the 21st century. DATAMARK, our Public Safety GIS team, consists of a skilled group of subject matter experts in Public Safety and GIS whose mission is to provide the necessary education, fact-finding, and solutions to ease the transition to and develop workflows for NG9-1-1. DATAMARK is the go-to authority on GIS data for NG9-1-1. Its data-forward, full-service but configurable NG9-1-1 solutions provide the highest levels of Public Safety GIS data completeness and accuracy.

SUMMARY
In this technical position, the Solutions Engineer is responsible for supporting business development activities in the integration of software solutions for our suite of products and services and collaborating with the entire DATAMARK team to ensure successful product launches, enhancements, and demos. Specifically, the Solutions Engineer will collaborate with other business development team members performing client technical briefings, presentations, analyses and other forms of communication with clients; support account managers in client success; working with the product team on product growth; and provide day to day technical problem solving with both clients and internal program staff on public safety GIS solutions. The role will enhance our team's ability to deliver top notch customer support and training as well as acquire an in-depth understanding of the DATAMARK product suite and GIS data needs of public safety systems.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Development & Client Success


  • Deliver competent and compelling value proposition presentations.
  • Work within the business development team to identify new customers and to retain existing customers.
  • Stay up-to-date with product knowledge and market dynamic.
  • Provide input to project proposals and contracts in cooperation with the larger business development team.
  • Provide support for marketing collateral, marketing campaigns, and conferences.
  • Serve as a client advocate, educator, and technical expert by developing relationships with the goal of executing services and software contracts.
  • Effectively communicate with clients regarding data needs, priorities, the DATAMARK software and services offerings, and on support matters.
  • Address customer issues and concerns in a timely fashion to ensure customer success.
  • Diagnose, research, escalate and/or resolve complex technical questions.
  • Identify potential business development opportunities that are professionally challenging; bring recognition to the DATAMARK brand on a local, regional, and statewide basis; recruit and attract individuals to the firm and help build careers. Serve as technical and career mentor to existing and future Public Safety and GIS staff

Product Growth

  • Analyze industry trends and the competitive marketplace to develop product enhancements for product growth.
  • Coordinate with the product team in product development activities and recommend product enhancements and updates.
  • Coordinate product release activities.
  • Conduct product training to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain a strong foundation of GIS and public safety technical knowledge.
  • Obtain customer feedback and suggest appropriate product revisions.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of GIS and/or Public Safety industry experience, with a focus on GIS solutions and growth.
  • Minimum of 5 years in the design or implementation of GIS technologies.
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Geography/GIS, Science, Public Safety, Information Management, Computer Science or relevant field.
  • Strong analytical abilities, solid analytical and trouble-shooting skills with the ability to quickly identify and solve client issues.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, GIS and data processing software especially the Esri suite of products.
  • Demonstrated experience in front-facing customer service.
  • Demonstrated analytical abilities through analysis and presentation of complex data
  • Ability to translate technical issues to a nontechnical audience.
  • Ability to use critical thinking and logic to isolate and resolve technical issues in a timely manner.
  • Strong written, verbal, and organization skills.
  • Ability to manage change in a fluid environment.
  • Time management and prioritization skills.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2+ years of experience in technical product support role.
  • Experience in understanding client needs related to addressing GIS, 9-1-1 operations, and the ability to offer solutions that meet client needs yet are consistent with NG9-1-1 and other public safety requirements.
  • Experience creating and/or delivering training materials.
  • 5+ years of experience providing hands-on support to external customers by phone, electronically, and/or face-to-face.
  • Experience supporting or testing web-based (SaaS) applications.

COMPENSATION
The salary range for this position is $82,804-$172,523. This will be dependent on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate.
