About the Opportunity:


We are seeking a Director of Product to lead the product department and develop and deliver our international product and destination strategy. You will manage, support and give guidance to the product team, develop strong relationships with our suppliers, set and negotiate contracts for all tour products with suppliers, assist in strategic growth and development of our owned and managed tour operations and identify and implement opportunities for Venture Ashore across the Hornblower group portfolio of brands.


Reporting to the VP of Operations, located in the UK, you will support in creating, developing, delivering and tracking the operations and financial objectives of the business.


 


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:



  • Foster and develop good relationships with existing suppliers to further develop business

  • Undertake an initial review of the systems and procedures within the department

  • Identify product requirements per destination and set achievable targets based on deployment

  • In accordance with our product and destination strategy, seek out new suppliers and onboard

  • Ensure that all administration requirements are completed and kept up to date including supplier insurance, supplier contracts and terms & conditions

  • Lead product team to ensure new tour products are uploaded in a timely fashion, and total product inventory is maintained

  • Lead product team to analyse and compare contract rates with cruise lines/tour operators/competitors and certify all product loaded into the system is competitive

  • Set goals and develop plans for supplier business and revenue growth

  • Partner with customer service team to regularly review and action supplier performance to ensure a high standard of customer experience

  • Conduct sales forecasts and analysis by destination and seasonality

  • Conduct site visits to suppliers for quality assurance

  • Regularly review deployment and make recommendations to adjust product mix accordingly

  • Partner with trade team to develop proposals for new trade partners

  • Partner with marketing team for product initiatives, new development and analysis

  • Partner with technology team to lead scoping, development, testing and implementation of supplier tools in our B2B portal

  • Identify, define and implement cost saving strategies and new revenue initiatives

  • Ensure product sales targets and team KPIs are achieved

  • Any other tasks requested by the VP of Operations or Senior Management team within the scope and responsibilities of the role

  • Additional job duties as assigned

 


Requirements & Qualifications:



  • Self-motivated and able to work remotely, with proven networking skills

  • Excellent communication and negotiating skills

  • A proven track record in B2B business development

  • Travel industry experience (required) - cruise knowledge (desirable)

  • Organizational leader that works collaboratively

  • Strong analytical skills – ability to measure, analyse, understand and present data to measure program effectiveness and validate strategy and spend

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or related field

  • Experience in hotel operations, tour operations or related field (at least 5 years)

  • Experience managing a team (at least 3 years)

  • Ability to manage complex projects, multi-task and problem solve

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint

  • Must be available at least part of the UK workday
