In this exciting role as the Associate Clinical Research Specialist you will be responsible for managing projects assigned and works with other stakeholders to achieve desired results. May act as a mentor to colleagues or may direct the work of other professionals. The majority of time is spent delivering and overseeing the projects - from design to implementation - while and adhering to policies, using specialized knowledge and skills normally acquired through advanced education.

The Study & Scientific Solutions (S&SS) is a function within Medtronic Core Clinical Solutions (MC2). S&SS is an internal service provider to all of Medtronic and assigns resources to assist Business Units execute on clinical trials and scientific projects when they have an increase in workload.

A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.


  • Oversees, designs, plans and develops clinical evaluation research studies.
  • Prepares and authors protocols and patient record forms.
  • Conducts registered and non-registered clinical studies of products that have been determined to satisfy a medical need and/or offer a commercial potential.
  • Oversees and interpret results of clinical investigations in preparation for new drug device or consumer application.
  • Oversees and resolves operational aspects of clinical trials in conjunction with project teams and in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOP), good clinical practice (GCP) and specific country regulations and may prepare clinical trial budgets.
  • Builds and maintains optimal relationships and effective collaborations with various internal and external parties.
  • May be responsible for clinical supply operations, site and vendor selection.

Must Have (Minimum Requirements):

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 0 years of clinical research experience

Nice to Have (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree with 1+ years of Clinical Research experience or advance degree with 0 years of clinical research experience.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical monitoring functions and clinical research methodologies, including study design, implementation and reporting.
  • CCRA certification (Certified Clinical Research Association), or equivalent preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications: Excel, PowerPoint and Word, Project (or similar scheduling software), project management techniques and tools; and web-based applications.
  • Experience in medical device clinical trials/clinical trial setting and/or clinical safety.
  • Experience with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), regulatory and/or compliance guidelines for clinical trials.
