Reporting to PGIM’s Chief DEI Officer, the Vice President of PGIM’s HBCU Investment Strategy will support and execute our partnership strategy with Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HBCUs) in addition to driving our Black Talent strategy across the firm.  Our commitment to this role is grounded in our conviction that PGIM has a role to play in addressing the racial wealth gap in America.

We need a skilled relationship manager, with deep investment fund knowledge to drive our HBCU partnership strategy.  You will need to be a creative and critical thinker with strong influencing skills to both activate PGIM employees and drive the HBCU and overall Black Talent strategy.  Further, you will serve as a primary contact between PGIM and HBCU Boards and leaders across the HBCU ecosystem, as we look to leverage PGIM’s asset management expertise to benefit HBCU students and endowment stewards.

What You Will Be Doing:

As Vice President of PGIM’s HBCU Investment Strategy you will be responsible for:



  • Working directly with select HBCUs to support the establishment of an investment fund, managed by students to provide students with real-world investing experience, support, and training. 



    • Working with schools to define and establish programs and to coordinate appropriate donations of funds.




    • Providing technical support in the creation of investment funds, drawing on appropriate PGIM resources as needed.




    • Engaging PGIM resources to ensure appropriate training to dedicated faculty.




    • Coordinating PGIM employee engagement (speaker series, training, etc) to support success of students.




    • Working directly with students eligible to participate in the Investment Fund program.




    • Engaging students to apply for PGIM scholarships and employment opportunities.




    • Exploring opportunities to advance the financial acumen of HBCU students to combat systemic challenges of the racial wealth gap.






  • Developing and implementing strategy to leverage PGIM’s investment management expertise to support HBCU Boards and Finance Staff as effective endowment stewards.



    • Defining and coordinating training of relevant investment and portfolio management topics to various HBCU Boards and Staff members.




    • Providing access to PGIM thought leadership and other bespoke learning opportunities to HBCU Boards and Staff members.




    • Exploring industry partnerships to create sustainable education and support system for HBCU Boards and Staff members.






  • Partnering with the PGIM’s Black Executive Leadership Team to advance our Black Talent aspirations and our HBCU Partnership Strategy.




  • Partnering with PGIM DEI Recruiting Team and PGIM Black Executive Leadership Team to develop an approach to HBCU Intern Scholarships, which will provide financial and professional support to students.




  • Partnering with PGIM DEI Recruiting Team and Prudential Talent organization to advance recruiting efforts aimed at attracting black talent.



Who we're looking for:



  • 12+ years’ experience in Asset Management and/or consulting while being a champion for an inclusive culture and diverse talent.




  • Knowledge of and contacts within the HBCU system.  HBCU alumnx status a plus.




  • Ability to influence others and build trust with leadership, internal and external partners, and potential students/candidates.




  • Ability to navigate complex conversations and grow the understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion in others




  • Driven, proactive, and able to shift priorities as needed




  • Commitment to developing, communicating, and executing against a shared vision, gaining support from a wide array of internal/external stakeholders




  • Strong presentation skills; experience presenting strategy and results to executives as well as curated events to students, faculty and board members across different universities




  • Strong communicator - written and verbal - and exceptional at collaborating with others




  • Excellent project management skills and experience managing multiple complex deliverables under tight deadlines




  • Learning mindset with a clear interest in being curious and creative, and a capacity to quickly absorb new concepts




  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with strong detail orientation




  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, yet also be a team player
