Job Description:

Administers one or more functions in the Department of Scholarships and Financial Aid, which includes financial aid advising, federal processing, scholarships, self-help programs and compliance.

  • Oversees and coordinates departmental services and procedures related to the processing of student scholarships and financial aid, ensuring compliance with appropriate laws, rules and regulations.
  • Directs activities and supervises professional and support staff, sets priorities and reassigns duties for special projects.
  • Ensures timely and efficient delivery of services; oversees quality control, compliance and system integrity for the unit.
  • Trains staff on guidelines, policies, procedures and general departmental functions.
  • Participates on the Scholarships and Financial Aid Management Team; assists in the planning, organization, implementation and evaluation of departmental processes, activities and other functions.
  • Prepares the schedule of activities and maintains an operations calendar for the unit.
  • Acts as the liaison between Scholarships and Financial Aid and related internal departments and external entities.
  • Counsels students, prospective students and their families regarding services provided.
  • Assists the department in filing all necessary reports.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

    This Assistant Director position specifically handles financial aid responsibilities within the University's Athletics Department, ensuring compliance with appropriate federal and state laws, rules, and regulations in conjunction with those of the NCAA, Conference, and institution. Unique responsibilities to the position include:


    • Overseeing and coordinating departmental services, procedures, and documentation related to the processing of student scholarships and financial aid, ensuring compliance with appropriate federal and state laws, rules, and regulations in conjunction with those of the NCAA, Conference, and institution.
    • Coordinating the National Letter of Intent program and managing scholarship distributions related to student-athlete tuition and fees, housing, meal plans, training table and summer school athletics aid.
    • Ensuring awards are appropriately disbursed and credited to student-athletes accounts. Counseling student-athletes, parents, and coaches concerning aid packages and other information to pertaining to financial aid and NCAA rules governing financial aid.
    • Ensuring timely and efficient delivery of services, oversees quality control, compliance, and system integrity for the unit in determining financial aid figures to apply to student-athlete individual and team records and projecting impact of future financial aid awards on team limits.
    • Training staff, coaches, and student-athletes on created guidelines, policies, procedures, and general departmental functions and provides rules education to those groups on NCAA financial aid legislation.
    • Participating on the Scholarships and Financial Aid Management Team; assists in the planning, organization, implementation, and evaluation of departmental processes, activities, and other functions.
    • Serving as the primary interpretative resource on all aspects of NCAA legislation related to financial aid.
    • Acting as the liaison between the Athletics Department and Scholarships and Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid to related internal departments including Housing, Admissions, the Bookstore, and the Bursar's Office and external entities.
    • Counseling coaches, students, prospective students, and their families regarding services provided.
    • Assisting the department in filing all necessary reports including those required by the NCAA, conference, and institution related to student-athlete demographics and financial aid data.
    • Performing other job-related duties as assigned.

    Bachelors and 3 years experience

    Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience.
