Model safe behavior at all times and support continuous improvement of mill safety programs.
Become the mill subject matter expert for the KC Global Reliability program. This program consists of six areas of focus for equipment and process reliability. These focus areas are:
Design for Reliability
Work with sector Reliability leader to identify projects or asset sections which should go through the Design for Reliability (DfR) process
Lead maintenance/operations training and participation in DfR process
Lead maintenance/ops participation in Early Equipment events (Layout Kaizen)
Procure for Reliability
Provide input to project engineering resources for Reliability needs and preferred equipment
Work with Procurement team on leveraging opportunities to improve equipment and process reliability
Operate for Reliability
Act as Co-leader with LEAN/CI resource to implement and support autonomous care and active Employee Improvement Teams
Co-Facilitate maintenance and operator autonomous care training
Ensure checklists are being done correctly with desired impact
Co-facilitate SMED activities in maintenance downs, grade changes and other planned downs.
Involve operations in appropriate skill based maintenance activities (TPM/EIT)
Support center-lining activities and development of operations standards
Train and support operations use of SAP where needed.
Develop and communicate action plans for issues
Share best practices via KC network systems
Root Cause Problem Solve
Lead 4 step problem solving on equipment issues/parts failures
Establish trigger points to perform detailed failure analysis including operations and engineering in the problem solving
Implement/manage failed parts autopsy area
Share issues and solutions across the sector
Provide input to project engineering resources for Reliability needs and preferred equipment
Lowest Parts Life cycle Cost in the World
Run stores consumption reports that highlight usage and identify mill opportunity areas
Work with stores to ensure local fab or repairable parts are equal or better than OEM
Track Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) for selected parts
Document and share savings with other mill counterparts
Precision Maintenance
Support Precision Maintenance (PM)/TALCM principles- Report out gaps and sector KPI metrics
Work ID and control- promote use of SAP, PM02 reporting, and PM08 team reviews
Criticality and Prioritization- assist setting Mill priorities and strategies
Planning- develop and promote standards for planned work, maximize down pre-work and parts staging
Scheduling- promote schedule compliance, track improvement from reactive to proactive work
Down Management- review down critiques for opportunities, document issues for continuous improvement
PM optimization- facilitate and lead team reviews, promote feedback from technicians, establish continuous cycle for PM improvement. Provide leadership of continuous improvements to Preventive Maintenance (PM09’s) and manage visual systems for status reporting
Lubrication- optimize routes, standardize lubricants, advise on new equipment lubrication, promote accuracy, and reduce errors/contamination.
Develop and communicate action plans for equipment issues
Review equipment history for chronic and high cost problems using agreed upon triggers
Escalate/refer issues to engineering for DfR improvements
Share best practices via KC networks.
Co-Lead maintenance cost tracking including review/checkbook meetings
Promote Continuous improvement in the maintenance function
Make equipment and process problems completely visible so resources can be applied to correct
Work with machine teams to develop new standard work or modify existing standard work for maintenance processes
Participate in the regular meetings with sector Reliability leader and represent mill at sector and corporate Reliability meetings
