POSITION PURPOSE:

Provide operations team leadership and management to obtain safety, quality, asset management, productivity, housekeeping, logistics, internal controls, human resources, and environmental/energy objectives. Emphasis is in the areas of paper machine and converting assets. Incumbent must meet the stated business objectives while furthering the development of the Owensboro Facility team culture.

CUSTOMERS AND CUSTOMER EXPECTATIONS:

Incumbent reports to the Mill Manager and functions as Team Leader for the manufacturing and converting. Safely produce quality products and services at lowest possible cost. Assets (materials, inventories, equipment, and personnel) are properly managed, maintained and developed. Positive work environment maintained to promote safety, housekeeping and human relations.

SCOPE:

The incumbent is responsible for management of all assets and leads a multi-functional work team and support resources that have the responsibility to safely maintain facility operations on a rotating shift and to meet facility objectives. The incumbent has the additional responsibility for development and improvement of asset productivity.

DIMENSIONS

This position has approximately 2-3 exempt direct reports and over 95 hourly direct reports.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES  


  • Promote and participate in mill loss control management by ensuring Kimberly-Clark safety standards are met, as well as compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.


  • Organize, manage, and audit manufacturing operations to ensure continuous improvement of safety, quality, productivity, housekeeping, employee relations, internal controls, customer service, and asset management objectives are fully met.


  • Create/develop an environment that supports cultural development to lower decision making, increase opportunities for team member involvement, and allow department teams more control over their part of the business.


  • Coach and develop deputies to provide competent management at all levels of the manufacturing organization and provide for orderly management succession.


  • Develop and maintain sound employee relations and morale to ensure uninterrupted productive operations, and the maintenance of a non-organized union status.


  • Establish long-range staff needs and plan for the efficient utilization of employees within the Manufacturing Department.


  • Analyze and coach for sound decision-making processes.


  • Develop communication vehicles to improve intra-team knowledge of missions, objectives, status, issues, plans, priorities, and accomplishments.


  • Support sector strategies/activities and act as a member or leader on site-wide teams and/or initiatives


  • Provide operational/technical expertise as necessary to achieve solutions to problems within the department.


  • Ensure that Corporate and facility policies, procedures, systems, and controls are in place and all department personnel are aware and following the established procedures.


  • Communicate fully with supervisors, peers, and others who have a need to know.  Be informative, communicating in a way that is timely, complete, accurate, and in a responsive manner.


  • Provide leadership to ensure your organization attracts, develops, and retains the best people and fosters an environment which motivates a diverse team to fully use its capabilities in achieving desired business results.


  • Provide leadership for conception and implementation of long-term strategies for asset improvement and the site organizational development.


QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

This position requires knowledge and ability typically associated with a Bachelor's degree.  The incumbent must have broad knowledge and significant experience in manufacturing operations or related areas at the functional level and a working knowledge of multi-functional issues.  Demonstrated capability of exceptional performance in a team environment is essential.
