Arthrex is actively searching for a Program Manager to plan and manage new product development initiatives within our Arthroplasty Engineering group. The successful candidate will build relationships with key stakeholders and internal departments to plan new product innovation initiatives and manage existing product improvement projects. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills, five years or more of related project management experience, and a bachelor’s degree in Engineering are essential for this position. Main Objective: 

The program and project management team is responsible for managing and resolving issues related to the time, budget, and resource allocation for a given program or project.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  1. Manages subsidiary-based and global projects/programs within the scope of the new product development

  2. Develops project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans, conferring with senior management and key stakeholders

  3. Determines project schedule by studying project plan and specifications, calculates time requirements, identifying and sequencing project elements and discreet tasks

  4. Maintains project schedule by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, and resolving obstacles

  5. Determines project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements, requesting and allocating resources as necessary

  6. Coordinates with interdepartmental managers for the availability, assignment, and accountability of downstream resources and technology

  7. Communicates project/program status to management and key stakeholders against metrics and constraints

Complete understanding and application of principles, concepts, practices, and standards.  Full knowledge of industry practices.

Develops solutions to a variety of complex problems.  May refer to established precedents and policies.

Work is performed under general direction.  Participates in determining objectives of assignment.  Plans, schedules, and arranges own activities in accomplishing objectives.

 

Skills


  • Ability to effectively communicate project planning requirements, including task elucidation, duration, and resource requirements

  • Strong strategic thinker, excellent collaboration and communication skills, careful attention to detail

  • Ability to balance business and technical risks while remaining compliant with internal systems.

  • Working knowledge of medical device regulations and associated quality systems, particularly design controls and risk management.

  • Manufacturing process knowledge preferred.

  • Awareness orthopedic surgery principles, theories, and products preferred

  • Knowledgeable of FDA and ISO guidelines for the development of medical devices required.

  • Strong communication skills and accountability to project deliverable timing and budgets required.

  • Ability to confidently lead complex, cross functional teams independently

  • Demonstrable bias for action

  • Strong desire and proven ability to learn quickly

  • Leads efforts to improve complex systems of people and process, while eliminating waste

  • Manages Engineering Project Managers, both internal and external to the company

 

Education/Experience


  • BS Engineering required.  BioMedical, Electrical, or Mechanical preferred

  • 5 years relevant experience

  • Project Management certification highly desired.
