Wilton Brands is a celebration leader, where great people deliver innovative products and exceptional customer service.  The position of Commodity Manager reports to the VP of Global Sourcing & Procurement.

Procurement team member, managing our Global Food Decorations hedging exposure, building coverage strategies designed to reduce volatility risk and increase price predictability. This position is responsible for the execution of the strategic-tactical purchasing processes for Food Decorations in compliance with the defined standards. This position performs assignments requiring a broad, thorough comprehensive knowledge and understanding commodity management, business and supply line management, practices, theories, principles and disciplines.  The individual will be proactive and capable of developing strategic direction of the commodity and in managing designated suppliers with the focus on cost leadership, security of supply and quality / sustainability. This position is responsible for managing supplier selection, assessments, negotiations, contract performance, supply base portfolio shaping, quality improvements, cost reductions and critical performance metrics.  Would be responsible for $65 million dollar spend. As the Commodity position being a Global and as Wilton integrates with Dr Oetker the budget will continue to grow. Develop strong commodity and supplier strategies that will yield cost savings/value to Wilton Brands

Essential Responsibilities:

•    Deliver consolidated market intelligence for the Food Decoration portfolio of products and commodities in the baking industry. Communicates market fundamental drivers and their price impact to the global procurement Leadership

•    Develops and implements category and commodity risk management strategies and tactics to mitigate the impact of volatile commodity markets

•    Develops annual and in-year commodity guidance outlooks and longer-term strategies to improve companies’ competitiveness through innovation, performance and productivity in the Food Decoration space. Qualification of new suppliers or ingredients as needed to support innovation and /or business continuity.

•    Manages, coordinates and directs Sourcing activities through day-to-day tactical and long-term strategic activities for assigned commodities; including the establishment of strategic goals, plans, outlooks, objectives and metrics.

•    Work with cross functional teams across business units including marketing, product management, engineering, design, operations and key management to develop strategic sourcing direction for the commodity.

•    Perform financial stability analysis of suppliers to be used in supplier selection.

•    Identify opportunities for cost reduction and avoidance that are attributable to the P&L and able to be audited by a Finance stakeholder.

•    Develop Total Cost of Ownership Models (TCO) of each existing and new product category. Monitor the commodity market, supply and quality to understand potential cost impacts and leverage positions and set negotiation strategy for suppliers. 

•    Evaluate and manage vendor performance to ensure productivity, timely deliveries, high service levels and adherence to quality specifications and all other business requirements. 

•    Establish and maintain measurable performance metrics for all levels of procurement activities to include but not limited to supplier performance, supplier quality, internal order placement performance, financial performance, and inventory shortage elimination 

•    Facilitate issue resolutions and develop corrective action plans for supplier related issues 

•    Negotiate and facilitate approval for new vendor contracts and agreements. 

•    Communicate activities and information timely and effectively with appropriate associates, internally and externally, domestically, and internationally.

•    Serve as an SME for the global procurement network with the category and identify and drive procurement processes and policies for alignment at the country, regional and global levels.

Education and Experience:

•    Demonstrated commodity management expertise

•    Proven negotiation and facilitation skills

•    A Bachelor’s Degree in a business/engineering related field, master’s degree preferred 

•    A minimum of 5-7 years’ work experience in purchasing.  Global sourcing a plus.

•    Extensive experience in strategic purchasing, including at least 3 years of international professional experience in purchasing

•    Must be computer literate with MS Office experience

•    Good knowledge of SAP (SAP, BW), office applications and other systems relevant to purchasing preferred

•    Six Sigma, APICS, CPIM and CPM certification preferred.

•    Result oriented and willing to walk extra mile to obtain the best result for each project 

•    Willing to accept challenges, hardworking, self-motivated and dependable

•    Must work well in a team environment, willing to step up in difficult situations and take leadership of team to solve problems

•    Strong communication and negotiation skills are essential.

•    Capability to handle multiple tasks

•    Willingness to travel 25%

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

•    Process Expertise – A good understanding of the strategic sourcing process and ability to apply the relevant tools. This includes commodity analysis, supplier selection and development, contract management, supplier performance monitoring, supplier collaboration, and supplier management.

•    Results Oriented – Consistently achieves/exceeds financial (gross and net productivity, MPV, inventory, DPO, etc.) and task-oriented goals.

•    Financial Analysis and Cost Modeling – Understanding of “total cost of ownership,” can read and analyze financial statements to assess the strength of a business and uses these skills in everyday sourcing decisions. 

•    Decision Making – The ability to make “value added” decisions in a timely manner at all levels of the organization with a strong attention to detail

•    Negotiation – The ability to plan for, implement and communicate the “elements of negotiations” that create value for Wilton Brands, while maintaining supplier relationships.

•    Technical and Product/Commodity Knowledge – Good understanding of both product and global market knowledge for the commodity being managed/sourced..

•    Ethics – Consistently uses good judgment when analyzing right and wrong and performs at a level of conduct that is with in corporate ethics guidelines.

Physical Demands/Work Requirements:

•    Professional office environment. This role is sedentary in nature and requires the ability to be seated at a desk for majority of the work day.

•    Ability to routinely use standard office equipment such as laptop computers, computer monitors/keyboards, photocopiers and telephones.

•    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
