Job Description:

Summary:

An Engineering Assistant is responsible for testing and characterizing materials, documenting results and keeping organized and accurate records. The usage of basic and complex testing equipment is required as well as coordination of external testing. Ability to learn things on the fly and implementation of new product characterization meetings is a plus.

Essential Functions:


  • Test and characterize materials. Use both basic and complex testing equipment and coordinate external testing. Implement new product characterization methods.

  • Document results and keep organized and accurate records. Communicate results in a timely manner.

  • Maintain both basic and complex instrumentation. Keep lab supplies and work areas orderly.

  • Perform all duties safely and wear appropriate PPE at all times.

  • Perform required physical activities, including lifting up to 25 lbs, moving 50 gallon drums and 50 lb. bags of material with assistance.

  • Follow precise instructions and provide quality data within specified timeframes. Take initiative to identify, report, and trouble shoot problems or inconsistent data and proactively address remediation. Demonstrate flexibility in dealing with shifting priorities.

  • Assist in product development for low complexity projects. Prepare and produce chemical formulations using bench scale techniques.

  • Prepare materials and operate pilot scale processing equipment for sample production.

  • High School Diploma plus 5+ years of relevant technical experience. Alternately a 2-4 year degree in a technical field plus 2+ years relevant technical experience.

  • Direct experience with ISO/TS16949 technical specification

  • Good written and oral communication skills

  • Good computer skills and familiarity with MS Office

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Self-starter with ability to work independently

  • Good organizational and time management skills

  • Strong problem solving and complex troubleshooting skills
