We’re looking for a Quality Assurance Manager at our world headquarters in Olathe, KS. In this role you will lead the team responsible for driving activities to ensure and improve quality and reliability of Garmin’s products, processes, and systems throughout all phases of the product life cycle. 


In this role, your key essential functions will be:


  • Conduct regular reviews of supplier/customer quality data and communicate with suppliers/customers on feedback and plans for improvement; areas may include external/internal measurements, corrective actions, and implementation of improvement processes and programs

  • Manage the analysis and utilization of data and information from part/product inspection, sales/return data, and Product Support to improve part/product and processes across the various Garmin sites

  • Work with Design Engineering to fulfill customer contractual requirements relating to quality requirements as flowed down from the customer agreements (i.e. PPAP, FMEA, capability studies, gage studies) and participate in ECO reviews

  • Manage the performance of advance statistical analysis as needed to support operations, manufacturing, engineering, supplier and/or customer requirements

  • Provide expertise and training for continuous improvement methodologies, problem solving methodologies, statistical techniques and quality tools


The Plant Quality Manager will work with process engineering to develop and implement project specific manufacturing quality plan to meet compliance of customer specific requirements and manufacturing quality standards (i.e.(AIAG, VDA).  Lead an in-plant team to implement factory product inspection, product failure root cause analysis, and customer DOA/0k product root cause analysis.  Interface with customer regarding product defect resolution and quality system compliance via customer portals and required customer reports.

Qualified candidates will possess the following education, experience and skills: 


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or related engineering discipline

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience working with various continuous improvement methodologies

  • Technical mastery of continuous improvement tools such as DMAIC, PDCA, 5 Why’s, statistical methods, and designed experiments

  • Must possess demonstrated leadership experience

  • Demonstrated knowledge of quality assurance tools / techniques including Advance Product Quality Planning, FMEA, SPC, PPAP, and MSA

  • Proficient knowledge of ISO9001, AS9100, IATF16949 and related quality certifications related to consumer, automotive and/or aviation products

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook


Candidates with the following desirable qualifications are preferred:


  • ASQ Certification (CQE, CMQ/OE, or CSSBB)

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering or a related field
