Task Description: Aircraft Mechanic II (23022): 

 

Aircraft Mechanics II must have a combination of experience to repair engines, sheet metal, and structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty, required to meet the assigned missions. Additionally provides input to Maintenance Engineering Changes (MEC), Estimated Cost of Damage preparation (ECOD) and assist in the recommendation of changes to (MWO). Individuals must be able to prioritize workloads and are required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks. Mechanic IIs can inspect Mechanic IIs and Is. This mechanic maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty, maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components, applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies required expertise in restoring equipment condition and or operation, and applies comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as blueprints or manufactures’ manuals. Must have a thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement of parts, requires broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair, must have basic knowledge of electrical theory, must have thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers. This job requires working knowledge of technical publications. The incumbent receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician, will occasionally be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks, and may be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records. Must be able to prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects. May require specialization in sheet-metal, electric work, avionics or other aircraft systems related disciplines. 

 

 

Skill and Knowledge:  Shall have the ability to troubleshoot malfunctions in various aircraft systems and be able to perform general Organizational Level maintenance and possess one or more of the specialties of the assigned aircraft below:

Avionics/Electrical Systems and related Sub-Systems


  • Must be knowledgeable of technical directives, NAMP programs, and shall be knowledgeable of and understand basic supply procedures.

  • Aircraft Mechanic II shall have experience writing with clarity and technical accuracy, and exhibit leadership and ensure adherence to all applicable policies and procedures.

  • Possess a high degree of expertise in the control and coordination of aircraft maintenance.

  • Thorough working knowledge of applicable maintenance/technical manuals and publications.

  • Thorough working knowledge of aircraft maintenance records.

  • Working understanding of the aircraft and aircraft systems.

 

Responsibility:   Performs requirements in accordance with the procedures established in the PWS. Performs diagnosis and corrective actions, disassembles, inspects, evaluates, and accomplishes necessary repairs, lays out work according to technical instructions and technical directives.  Determines what repairs, modifications, and part replacements are required. May be required to verify work performed by another for which he/she is qualified to perform.

 

 

 

Task Requirements: 


  • Performs duties as Avionics/Electrician Technician on C-130 aircraft.

  • May perform Lead duties as assigned.

  • May perform CDI duties as assigned.

  • Troubleshoot, repair and service C-130 aircraft components and systems.

  • Conducts diagnosis of malfunctions.

  • Perform maintenance, disassembly, rework, repair, replacement, re-assembly or adjustment of various aircraft component systems in accordance with technical specifications and engineering instructions.

  • Apply professional technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as blueprints or manufacturers manuals / specifications.

  • Performs corrosion control, enters in the maintenance records description of the work performed and verifies the work was performed satisfactorily, and other tasks as deemed necessary.

  • Provides guidance and technical expertise to lower level technicians throughout all aircraft maintenance, inspection and/or modification efforts.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

  

 

Preferred Qualifications: 


  • FAA Airframe and Power Plant License.

  • 10 years’ experience and 7 years’ experience supporting C-130 aircraft.

  • Ability to troubleshoot, isolate problems and repair all C-130 aircraft mechanical, electrical, engine and propeller systems.

  • Experience on C-130 aircraft in the structural repair, fabrication, modification and installation of sheet metal parts, items, and assemblies.

  • 8 years experience with the application and use of technical data and blueprints.

  • Familiarity with the Naval Aviation Maintenance Program (NAMP) or equivalent.

  • CDQAR for Airframes, Power Plants, and Electrical Systems.

  • CDI for Avionics Systems.

  • APU/Engine Low Power/Engine Full Power Operator.

  • A minimum of 3 years of documented aircraft supervisory experience.

Basic Qualifications:


  • Aircraft Mechanic II shall have a minimum of 3 to 5 years specialized C-130, E-2 or P3 fixed wing propeller aircraft maintenance experience.

  • Must have DOD SECRET clearance and be able to obtain Common Access Card (CAC).

  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule that may include extended shifts, night shifts, holidays, and weekends if required.

 

Employment is contingent on a) your ability to provide appropriate proof of your identity and eligibility to work in the United States; (b) your references and any background check being satisfactory to the Company; (c) you successfully passing a pre-employment drug test; (d) your ability to provide proof of COVID vaccination status, (e) your ability to get a required clearance by your effective start date, if needed, and (f) KAI commencing performance on this contract.
