Job Description:

Do you have a strong attention to detail, good organizational skills, ability to multi-task and enjoy working in a fast paced environment?  Our Yard Coordinator/Dispatchers play a critical role in the coordination and tracking of the movement of trailers in and out of the yard facility and manage yard workers (our hostlers) movements and works with incoming drivers to ensure smooth traffic flow in and out of the facility.


 Shift: Mon - Fri,  10:00 PM - 8:30 AM

What you will do as OnTrac’s next Yard Coordinator/Dispatcher:



  • Check in Vendors/Drivers when they arrive; record Vendor information such as trailer details, account name(s), trailer load percentage, verifies seal numbers to documentation (bill of ladings). etc.

  • Work with Management and the Yard Switchers (Hostler’s) in the unload area; coordinating trailer movement and con gear placement to ensure smooth flow and maintain critical schedules

  • Perform thorough yard checks to ensure all ‘due’ freight is unloaded on the proper sort line.

  • Work with management and the Hostlers to ensure proper dock set up between sorts – lineup changes between TWI & MID Sorts.

  • Provide a summary Excel report detailing all trailer pick-ups processed for the Day & Twilight Sort activities.

  • Maintain and contribute to a safe work environment by adhering to policies and procedures as outlined in the Company Safety Program.

  • Perform any other task or assignment associated with this job function, as deemed necessary by the organization.

What you’ll need to be our next Yard Coordinator/Dispatcher:



  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.

  • Or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of both.

  • One year of leadership experience.

  • Experience and proficiency with Excel and Outlook

 While performing the duties of Yard worker 



  • Regularly required to talk or hear,  frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.  

  • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, bend, climb, push, pull, twist or crouch. 

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
