The Accounting Manager will assist the Director of Accounting in producing timely and accurate financial data and reporting. This position will be responsible for assisting the Controller in managing the accounting team with the daily, monthly, and annual financial requirements, as well as participating in various projects to help improve a fast-growing company.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Oversee and ensure timeliness of the weekly, period end, and annual close processes and reporting
Manage, and be able to assist with, the day-to-day accounting transactions including preparation and posting of journal entries and reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts
Develop and mentor 1-2 direct reports from the accounting team including engaging in training, directing work, assessing performance
Manage A/P team to ensure accuracy and properly reflect transactions within the weekly and period reporting
Liaison with the external auditors and assist in the preparation of year-end audit work-papers
Assist in the process improvement and efficiency in all accounting and reporting functions
Assist in the development, implementation, and adherence of appropriate accounting policies and procedures over internal controls
Research and document technical accounting issues and implement new accounting pronouncements
Maintain required government reporting including sales and property taxes
Work on special projects and ad hoc requests as needed
Qualifications and Skills:
Communication is the most important skill desired for this role
Bachelor’s Degree in accounting
3+ years related experience in progressively responsible accounting roles. Applicants with public accounting experience only are encouraged to apply
Be able to exhibit leadership qualities and experience with direct staff supervision
CPA preferred
Passionate and enthusiastic, with a desire to learn new skills and chase every dollar
Team-oriented, with the ability to effectively communicate between all levels and departments of the organization
Good organizational and time management skills
Solid understanding of GAAP and experience and proficiency in researching technical accounting issues
Accustomed to working under strict deadlines; able to work overtime as needed for close processes
Comfort and ability to adapt to change and extend beyond comfort zone into different areas of the business
Commitment to detailed and accurate financial accounting and reporting
Pay & Benefits
Commensurate with experience within a range of $80,000 - $90,000, plus a generous bonus program
