The Engineering and Technical Director is responsible for planning and managing various new product/project development initiatives. Works closely with Marketing and Operations, applying engineering principles and project management skills, to support new product development ideation, advancement through approval stages, and assisting operations with resolving technical product/operational issues.
Leads and acts as project manager for assigned products/projects.
Contributes ideas for product/project development initiatives.
Plans and manages product/project development stages.
Reports product development/project progress to senior management.
Ensures that products/projects are delivered on time and within budgets.
Oversees product/project deployment, implementation, and integration
Assists with diagnosing and resolving technical design and operational issues.
Evaluates product/project performance metrics and facilitates adjustments.
Documents processes and ensures compliance with industry standards, i.e. safety and regulatory
Contributes to tool design and strategy
Bachelor's degree in engineering, technology management, or related discipline.
10-15 years of experience in technical program management, preferably in a manufacturing related industry.
Plastics industry and related tooling experience required
Familiarity with all types of plastic processing, i.e. extrusion, blow molding, injection molding, thermoforming, vacuum forming, etc…
Mold building or machining experience preferred
Experience developing new products and managing the process.
Demonstrated project management experience.
Ability to create/evaluate product performance metrics, diagnose and resolve issues.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated problem-solving skills to isolate and solve problems with programs to keep progress on track
