PURPOSE AND MISSION:

The OEM Sales Representative is responsible for sales and profitability of the company’s products and services of an assigned territory within a regional geographical area. This function will maintain existing customers and increase sales and profitability revenue by growth of existing and the addition of new customers, all at levels of growth and profitability that meet monthly and annual objectives established by the National Sales Manager and Regional Sales Manager(s). To be successful in this role, you will need to have a deep understanding of the sales process and dynamics, superb technical wood coatings experience, and excellent interpersonal and computer skills. An Unrivaled Customer Experience is our goal everyday and is required for customers (internal and external).  Professionalism, excellent teamwork, and communication skills are a must!

AUTHORITY:


  • Establishing and operating by goals and budgets developed with management.

  • Field level service decisions that relate to maintaining Gemini’s image through making informed and on the spot decisions to resolve complaints, service issues, etc., within reason (limited to product replacement).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Generate new and repeat sales of assigned customers and/or territories by providing product and technical information in a timely manner.

  • Determine customer requirements and expectations to recommend specific products and solutions.

  • Recommend alternate products based on cost, availability, or specifications.

  • Present price, credit, and terms in accordance with standard procedures and customers’ profitability profiles.

  • Increases sales of existing products at acceptable levels of profit, while expanding overall sales.

  • Knows, understands, and abides by company rules, policies, and procedures.          

  • Sets realistic goals, along with a plan to attain those goals, both individually and within established geographical area/territory

  • Sets specific new business goals by region, identify key prospects, and successfully closes new business opportunities on a regular basis.

  • Regularly monitors progress against set goals and formulates and executes plans to ensure goals are met or exceeded.

  • Annually, prepares revenue and expense budgets for the territory, with guidance from Regional Sales Manager.  Operates within approved budget limits      

  • Understands how to read an income statement and regularly participates in incentive meetings to gain insight into and participate in the process.  Obtains any training needed from the company to manage in this fashion.

  • Maintains an awareness of competition, and ensures the sales territory maximizes its potential based on competitive situation. 

  • Meets all paperwork requirements set by the company including, but not limited to expense reports, call reports, goal management, etc., both individually and regionally.

QUALIFICATIONS and REQUIREMENTS

  • Education: a minimum of a high-school education, college degree preferred.

  • Experience: At least 5 years of wood coatings sales preferred. Performance will be reviewed periodically, based upon development, responsibility, and innovation.

  • Skills/Knowledge: The Trade Salesperson must:

    • Be able to produce results with little direct supervision.

    • Possess excellent communication and organizational skills.

    • Be a proactive problem solver.

    • Be product literate.

    • The ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.

    • Must be self-motivated and goal oriented.

    • Have or gain an understanding of Open Book Management and manage by the principles thereof.

    • Possess a high work ethic, moral and personal integrity, and honesty.

    • Be mature, flexible, and self-motivated.

    • Exemplify professionalism in personal appearance, manner, and dress according to acceptable standards set by the company.

    • Ability to quickly build rapport with customers (internal and external).


  • Job Related Working Requirements:

    • Must be computer literate.

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office related products, especially Microsoft Excel.
