ABOUT THE POSITION
The County of Riverside seeks candidates to fill positions throughout Riverside County. A list of eligible candidates will be established to fill current and future vacancies. This will be a continuous recruitment.
The County of Riverside Facilities Management Department has multiple openings for a Custodian throughout Riverside County. The Custodian position will be assigned to the Western Region ( Riverside, Corona, Norco, Moreno Valley) or Southern Region ( Elsinore, Temecula, Murrieta, Menifee) of the Riverside County. This position will work under general supervision, maintaining an assigned building area in a clean and orderly condition; and perform other related duties as required.
The Custodian is the working level class in the Custodial series and requires the ability to learn the work and reliably perform it independently without close supervision.

Riverside County Department of Facilities Management provides property management and operations services for county owned and leased facilities throughout the 7,200 square miles of Riverside County and over 14 million square feet of space. The department is responsible for keeping county buildings safe, comfortable and productive for both county staff and the public.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Sweep, dust, strip, seal, wet mop, wax, and polish floors; vacuum and shampoo rugs.
• Wash windows, walls, and restrooms; empty and clean ash trays, waste receptacles, kick buckets, and take trash to disposal area.
• Clean light fixtures; replace light bulbs and fluorescent tubes; dust and polish woodwork, desks, shelves, bright work, and tables.
• Clean restrooms and replenish toilet paper and soap.
• Move furniture or equipment; mix disinfectant solutions; burn trash and clean incinerators.
• Observe, check, and report unauthorized personnel in and around buildings.
• Drive light truck to collect trash; may secure building and area after cleanup; may relieve security guard.
Ability to: Read and write English at a level required for successful job performance; learn the methods of cleaning and caring for buildings and equipment; understand and follow oral and written directions; work cooperatively with others.
License: Possession of a valid California Driver's License is required at time of employment.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs; Extensive walking, standing, and bending required.
Background: Extensive background will be required.

MISCELLANEOUS RETIREMENT: County of Riverside has three retirement Tiers through the California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS).
Contribution rates are subject to change based on the County of Riverside annual actuarial valuation.

DEFERRED COMPENSATION: Voluntary employee contribution with a choice between two 457 deferred compensation plan options.
VACATION ACCRUAL (Bi-Weekly Accrual):
0< 3 year = 80 Hours (10 Days)
4< 9 years = 120 Hours (15 Days)
10 or more years = 160 Hours (20 Days)
Maximum Vacation leave accumulation is 480 hours.
SICK LEAVE: Four (4) hours Sick Leave accrual per pay period with unlimited accrual.
HOLIDAYS: Normally 12 paid holidays per year
BEREAVEMENT LEAVE: Allowed 5 days (3 days are County paid; 2 additional days can be taken from accrued Sick Leave balance)
BASIC LIFE INSURANCE: Equal to one times annual base salary not to exceed $50,000 of term life coverage. Premiums are paid by the County. Additional Supplemental Life plan is available for employee purchase.
DISABILITY: Short-term Disability benefit pays up to a maximum of $461.54 weekly, payable up to a maximum of 52 weeks.
POST RETIREMENT MEDICAL CONTRIBUTION: A monthly contribution is made by the County towards retiree health insurance offered through the County as governed by the applicable Memorandum of Understanding.
