Power Solutions International is seeking a Safety Manager to join the Human Resources team in our Corporate office. The ideal candidate will have previous experience managing company Safety policies and procedures in a manufacturing setting with multiple facilities.

Reporting to the VP of Human Resources, the Safety Manager promotes a company culture focused on safety awareness aimed at keeping all employees safe and preventing safety and accident events through communication, programs, training, policy development and enforcement and analysis and reporting of data.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Hire, train, coach, and manage an integrated, globally diverse, Safety team establishing performance standards, evaluating individual and team performance, ensuring company policies are adhered to, and meeting leadership's goals using PSI's IMPACT values (Innovation, Motivation, Passion, Accountability, Communication, Trust).

  • Plan, implement, monitor and assess safety programs, processes, policies, and procedures that meet OSHA and other applicable requirements and effectively reduce or eliminate occupational injury and illness.

  • Design or change Safety policy and processes to minimize or eliminate risk by overseeing results of, or conducting, audits, inspections, and investigations of facilities, procedures, and equipment to identify unsafe conditions and coordinate resolution of issues, violations, and hazards.

  • Develop and deliver safety training to increase employee awareness of safety requirements and assists department heads and administrators in enforcing safety regulations and codes.

  • Manage workers' compensation cases including claims and return to work accommodations.

  • Review and analyze all safety data and reports of all safety recordable accidents or events and reporting findings and metrics to senior leadership.

  • Define and support activities related to fire prevention, hazardous waste management, resource conservation, or other safety concerns.

  • Adhere to all safety procedures including the use of personal protective equipment and navigating the plant with alert behavior. Perform all duties in accordance with safety standards and ensure work areas are kept clean and free of hazards.

  • All other duties as assigned by management.

. Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in occupational health and safety or environmental engineering preferred; may substitute with direct applicable work experience on a year-for-year basis which built competencies and subject matter expertise;

  • Demonstrated success in implementing, improving, and managing programs, communication, training, and reporting related to health and safety in a manufacturing environment

  • Requires Professional Certification or ability to obtain one within one year: a. GSP - Graduate Safety Professional, b.ASP – Associate Safety Professional, c. CSP – Certified Safety Professional

  • Tech savvy using MS Office (especially Excel)

  • Ability to travel to other plants within driving distance one to two days each week

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of federal and state occupational, health and safety regulations, especially OSHA standards

  • Project management skills

  • Effective communication at all levels of organization

  • Bilingual Spanish/English a plus
