Overview

Job Title: 2nd Shift Maintenance Supervisor Department: Maintenance

Shift: 2ND # of Positions: 1

Reports To: PLANT MAINTENANCE MANAGER

Position Summary

This position is responsible for maintenance of all the equipment and machinery in the plant. Responsible for preventative maintenance on machinery, inspection of all equipment and order parts needed for repair and sending parts out for repair. This position is responsible for the supervision of up to 15 employees in the maintenance department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.



Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Maintains and creates a safe working environment for all employees. Looks for opportunity to get employees involved in safety, process changes and overall improvement efforts.

  • Directs workers in electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment.

  • Assists workers in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment.

  • Directs workers engaged in dismantling, assembling, and installing industrial machinery.

  • Requisitions and keeps supply of spare parts Insures items used or installed for use conform to proper safety standards.

  • Reviews daily forklift check lists and is responsible for repairing forklifts.

  • Modifies programming of robots and related equipment such as robot controllers and programmable controllers.

  • Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.

  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforce safety regulations.

  • Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.

  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.

  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.

  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.

  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.

  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.

  • Maintains time and production records.

  • Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.

  • Performs activities of workers supervised.

  • Examines plans and specifications for new machinery or equipment, machinery, and facilities to identify and correct potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

  • Determines requirements for safety clothing and devices, and designs, builds, and installs, or directs installation of safety devices on machinery.

Education and/or Experience:

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills: Must be proficient in basic computer skills, Microsoft Word and Excel helpful.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:


  • Must pass Manchester Tank's lockout/tagout certification requirements.

  • Must pass Manchester Tank's forklift certification requirements.

  • Ability to obtain Manchester Tank's crane certification.
