We are seeking a leader who has enthusiasm for working in a research community committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, able to demonstrate the flexibility to prioritize and organize effectively through evolving conditions. As a member of the Center’s Management Team, you will work directly with the Center’s Co-Directors to drive decisions influencing the Center’s direction. You will advance the SDSU HealthLINK Center through leadership and administration focused on operational aspects of the Center and managing the Center’s policy and procedure development, review, and approval process. You will oversee the operation of our public-facing Clinical Research Center, our laboratories, and offices, liaising with SDSURF Facilities, Risk Management, and other departments as needed. The Research Operations Manager will facilitate quality, productive, and efficient research activities by developing and managing processes for daily operations, inventory control, and associated activities.


Among other things, the Research Operations Manager will have the opportunity to:

  • Take a leadership role within the Executive Team

  • Coordinate and manage Center facilities in collaboration with SDSU Research Foundation and SDSU departments

  • Serve as Policy and Procedure (P&P) Review Committee Chair and lead on the development and management of P&P infrastructure for the submission, review and approval processes for all Center policies and procedures

  • Develop, train on, maintain, and manage implementation of operational policies and procedures to promote operational efficiencies

  • Maximize utilization of research spaces (e.g., Clinical Research Center) across research projects

  • Manage and ensure implementation of the Center’s safety and security protocols, including those related to COVID-19

  • Manage operational, legal, and regulatory compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and institutional policies

  • Manage the Center’s inventory control system

  • Coordinate the submission of the annual NIMHD progress report and significantly contribute to components of the report

  • Ensure diversity, equity and inclusion are integrated throughout the center culture


  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training and administration work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.

  • Six years of progressively responsible experience in office or administrative environment

Desired Qualifications

  • Training in clinical/health services administration or operations

  • Bilingual (English-Spanish)

  • Experience with operational management of a federally funded research center

  • Experience with clinical trials mangement software or comparable clinical software

  • Project management training and experience


  • The COVID-19 vaccine is required by the CSU for all SDSU Research Foundation employees as a condition of employment.
