Digital Frontiers is a $75 million buy-in mechanism available to USAID Bureaus and Missions from 2017 to 2023. DAI implements the Digital Frontiers project, which works closely with USAID's Development, Democracy and Innovation Bureau (DDI), the Innovation Technology and Research Hub's Technology Unit (ITR/T), USAID missions, the private sector, and international and local development organizations to identify successful and sustainable digital development approaches and scale their impact globally.


Digital Frontiers is seeking an intern to join our growing project team. This internship position is a great opportunity for students to build their project management skills while developing a strong professional network with a leading implementer of international development programs. In this position, you will be expected to learn the ins-and-outs of our daily routines and procedures. You will focus on learning how our project runs and how to complete basic operational tasks. You will get exposed to various aspects of implementation including: operations, finance, administration, grants and contracts, and project management


The Digital Frontiers Intern will be housed within the Finance and Operations team and support the following:

1.Finance, Operations, and Administration

Support the finance and operations team with various operational and administrative tasks including but not limited to:

  • Consultant agreement drafting, consultant invoice review and processing, inventory review and true-up, file management, database access control maintenance, meeting logistics and procurement support, and note taking as requested

2.Grants and Contracts

Support the grants and contracts team with various subaward tasks including but not limited to:

  • Invoice review and processing, record management, compliance spot-checking, activity and financial report review, and providing general support to the team throughout subaward processes.

3.Project Management

Support buy-in managers with various project management tasks including but not limited to:

  • Consultant tracking and management, recruitment efforts, drafting and reviewing documents and reports, conducting desk research


Required Qualifications:

  • Current or recent graduate of an undergraduate university program

  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision

  • Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas

  • Proven research skills with an aptitude for clear and succinct report writing

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Adaptability, strong time-management skills, and ability to work on various tasks simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated interest in international development


The Intern will report to Digital Frontiers' Finance and Operations Manager but will collaborate across the Digital Frontiers project.
