Position title: Graphic Designer

Place of Performance: Washington, DC or remote

Maximum Level of Effort (LOE): 8 days


The USAID Africa Trade and Investment (ATI) program is a five-year, flexible buy-in mechanism jointly managed by the USAID Africa Bureau, Middle East Bureau, and Africa Regional Missions. It was designed to mob i l i z e ent e rprise-driven so l u t i o ns that incr e ase t rade a n d inve s tme n t i n Af r ic a , i n clud i ng N o r t h and Su b -Sahar a n Af r ic a . It strengthens A f ric a 's m ark e ts by dev e l o ping n ew tr a de and investme n t relationship s , particularly between t he United States and A f r i c an continent. It also works to ac h ieves dev e lo p me n t o u tcomes ac r oss all s e cto r s.


The Graphic Designer will support ATI communications with designing and finalizing ATI's quarterly report.


Tasks may include, but are not limited to:

  • Vision/brainstorming over style and design of product
  • Ability to digest ATI's written communications materials and brainstorm ideas for compelling visuals that represent/ can accompany this information
  • Creation of compelling visuals that distill complex information into an attractive, digestible final product.
  • Submission of draft design and solicitation of feedback
  • Revise design according to feedback
  • Finalize design and provide design files to client in print-ready format
  • Other related tasks, as necessary


The consultant will report to the ATI Senior Communications Advisor.


  • Ability to work in a fast paced, high volume, multi-website, multi-client environment
  • Strong theoretical and practical background in graphic design, including the use of design software such as Adobe Creative Suite, Illustrator, Photoshop, In-Design, etc.
  • Expert experience in designing visually informative graphics and images.
  • Expert experience in the layout of professional reports.
  • Experience working in collaboration with technical teams and delivering under tight deadlines.
  • 4+ years professional work experience in graphic design
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a strong team player
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Preferred: Experience designing creative materials while adhering to an organization's branding guidelines
