Lifeguard and Safety Coordinator - Caldwell YMCA at TREASURE VALLEY FAMILY YMCA

Job Description:

Whether it's just for recreation, learning to swim, or serious competition, the Y offers safe, healthy aquatics activities for kids of all ages and abilities. The Lifeguard and Safety Coordinator is responsible for the lifeguard and safety operations of the aquatic center and first responder activity in the branch.

Responsibilities:

Work closely with the Director to ensure department operations are consistent with approved Leading Practices.
Supervise Lifeguarding staff, including hiring, onboarding, role-modeling, coaching, scheduling, certification management, and on-going development.
Schedule appropriate staffing levels in the aquatics facility to meet program, special event, and open swim needs.
Monitor and report drill performance overall emergency response readiness of the lifeguard team.
Oversee the scheduling, supplies, and budget for Lifeguarding and assigned aquatic and safety classes.
Assist Director with staff meetings to keep staff advised and informed of all program offerings, class scheduling, membership changes, policies, etc.
Gather monthly, seasonal, and annual Aquatics Center statistics, and produce reports needed for Director.
Participate in the budget creation process and monitor labor budget to meet fiscal objectives.
Review and process program financial assistance applications.
Handle and resolve Aquatics Center concerns and inform supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.
Maintain collaborative relationships with community organizations including, but not limited to, school district leadership and personnel, and vendors.


Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in recreation or sports management, or equivalent experience.
Must be able to meet YMCA transportation requirements.
Current Lifeguard Certification and Water Safety Instructor within 60 days.
Preferred qualifications include Lifeguard Instructor or Trainer, CPR for Professional Rescuer Instructor, Water Safety Instructor Trainer, Water Fitness Instructor or Trainer, First Aid Instructor, CPR Instructor, O2 Instructor and/or knowledge of competitive aquatic programming.


Schedule Requirements:
Monday-Friday 10am-6pm. Some early mornings, evenings, and weekends will also be required to meet the needs of the department.
