AV Tech/ Stage Manager at American Queen Steamboat Operating Co

Job Description:

The AV Tech/Stage Manager is responsible for setting up, installing, operating, testing, and troubleshooting audio and video equipment, as well as managing stage set up and operations as needed. This position is also in charge of running lights, sound, and AV requirements for all presentations in the showroom.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 



  • Cleanliness and upkeep of all entertainment areas

  • Performing at any/all entertainment venues as scheduled by the Entertainment Director

  • Running lights and sounds for all events including full cast and band shows, presentations, special events and guest acts and lecturers (including set up and disassembly of all necessary equipment)

  • Maintain all sound and lighting equipment.

  • Programming boat wide background music using American Musical Environments software with provided training, if necessary.

  • Trouble shoot all boat wide sound issues in conjunction with onboard engineering staff and shoreside IT

  • Making sure the Entertainment Director is aware of all technical needs for every entertainment space onboard

  • Report to the Entertainment Director before any major decisions are made within the entertainment venues

  • Maintain the Muzak system for boat wide music.

  • Setting up and maintaining the technical side of all entertainment venues

  • Setting up and breaking down all entertainment activities from a technical aspect

  • Participating and scheduling rehearsals as the Entertainment Director may see fit.

  • Adhering to any changes or additions to this list or any cruise layout

  • Make hospitality standards an important part of day-to-day duties

  • Participate and ensure participation of all USCG mandated drills and emergency procedures as directed

  • Actively participates in embarking duties such as loading, unloading, luggage carrying, etc., as needed

  • Performs other duties if required since above stated describe only a regular working day and may not be inclusive of every task needed to achieve results.


 


Requirements & Qualifications: 


Education:                                                                     



  • HS Diploma or Equivalent Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree Preferred

  • Professional Certification(s) or License:

  • Valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) – if applicable, and/or ability to obtain and maintain

  • Valid Driver’s License

  • Copy of DD214, if Veteran status

  • Valid Driver's License 


Skills & Abilities:



  • Experience mixing front of house and monitors for production shows with full band and cast, utilizing wireless handheld mics and face mics.

  • Experience with iOS mixing software, such as Mackie Masterfader.

  • Knowledge of and experience with iOS-controlled lighting systems such as Quick Q

  • Proficiency with MS Office applications (i.e. PowerPoint)

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills

  • Ability to interact with individuals at all levels in a pleasant and professional manner

  • Must maintain a clean, neat, and professional appearance

  • Ability and willingness to train and supervise employees

  • Logically and independently plan, organize, and complete work assignments


Experience:



  • At least four years of experience in a position with similar duties and responsibilities

  • Cruise industry experience preferred


Physical:



  • Must submit to and pass mandated USCG physical

  • Ability to meet and maintain the maximum onboard bunk bed capacity of 300 lbs.

  • Ability to conduct work in a marine environment that is subject to some/all the following: confined spaces, uneven surfaces, variations in temperature, wake, and motion

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders


Other: 



  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

  • Submit to and pass alcohol and drug tests as mandated by the USCG including but not limited to pre-employment, random, reasonable suspicion, and post-accident/incident testing.
