Edelman's Social Impact & Sustainability team has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Vice President with a focus on sustainability, climate and ESG. This position will play a key role on our team, focusing on impact strategy, communications planning, client and team leadership, stakeholder engagement, outreach and business development.

Responsibilities :

The Senior Vice President (SVP) is responsible for leading teams and accounts, devising and directing client engagements, and overseeing processes and deliverables to ensure operational excellence. Expected responsibilities include:

Client and Project Oversight:


    • Develop frameworks, programs and partnerships to build authentic and measurable corporate sustainability programs

    • Build strong relationships with clients, serving as senior lead and/or account owner

    • Lead the planning, development, and execution of multi-channel strategic communications campaigns

    • Oversee quality and operational performance of accounts including budget management, ensuring smart thinking, innovative approaches, attention to detail and managed deadlines

    • Anticipate what's next helping clients get ahead of issues and capitalize on new opportunities

    • Provide strategic counsel on impact and sustainability strategy, programming and communications in real time to clients

    • Build relationships with third-party thought leaders and internal business partners to meet client needs

    • Produce and oversee production of high-quality, internal and external communications content, including memos, visual presentations and written recommendations

    • Serve as a sustainability subject matter expert to other Edelman teams

Team Management:


    • Lead staff by motivating, coaching, consistently providing actionable feedback, and holding team members accountable, as well as leading regular and annual performance reviews

    • Lead with emotional intelligence and successfully resolve intra-team conflict

Other:


    • Lead business development efforts by guiding teams through research and proposal preparation

    • Demonstrate impeccable judgement and ability to influence internal teams and clients

    • Identify and acknowledge problems swiftly and directly, offering solutions and course-corrects as needed

    • Contribute to business growth through creating relevant new offerings, introducing clients to new capabilities, building a network of industry contacts and participating in relevant professional organizations

    • Address client issues thoughtfully, respectfully and effectively

    • Demonstrate behaviors consistent with Edelman's values (Relentless Pursuit of Excellence, Freedom to be Constantly Curious, Courage to do the Right Thing) and Code of Ethics and Business Conduct

    • Understand today's corporate sustainability landscape and the implications for clients and key trends shaping our clients' businesses

Basic Qualifications:


    • Minimum of 12 years of relevant full-time experience in public relations and/or related fields including sustainability, corporate social impact, management consulting, and / or marketing communications.

    • Ability to manage and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

    • Ability to manage and thrive in ambiguity.

Preferred Qualifications:


    • The SVP should have a bachelor's degree in a relevant field, master's degree preferred.

    • The SVP will have a deep understanding of the communications and reputation landscape, with a point of view on how to build trust in a crowded and complex landscape.

    • The SVP will be a subject matter expert in corporate social responsibility, climate and sustainability, ESG, community investment and social impact, public/private partnership development and management, global development and/or other societal issues (e.g. education, health, social services).

    • The SVP will bring a strong network with deep and varied contacts across clients, stakeholders, media, etc.

    • Professional services or agency experience is strongly preferred.
