ERM seeks a motivated Senior Consultant, Capital Project Development & Permitting in the Gulf Coast region (e.g., Texas/Louisiana). If you have significant consulting experience in the energy sector (e.g., traditional and/or renewable power sector, transmission and distribution and/or oil and gas sector) and are great at building client relationships, commercial development and managing projects and teams, this position is for you. ERM works closely with energy companies at every stage of their business/asset life cycle to help them plan for, create/develop, and effectively/efficiently operate both traditional and non-traditional assets. We are expanding our team to strengthen our organization’s ability to create and implement innovative solutions that translate to clear and measurable business value for our clients. Consistent with this focus, ERM is seeking an experienced professional to join our firm as a key client-facing energy sector subject matter expert. Our ideal candidate will have pre-existing client relationships and a proven record of winning work within the energy market.

ERM is structured to encourage collaboration and networking among regional offices, providing opportunities to collaborate with ERM’s national Low Carbon Energy Transition (LCET) team to share expertise and consulting opportunities. Our many leaders proactively work together to build strategies and campaigns around key business drivers for our clients, with the primary focus of finding and delivering high-profile rewarding projects and building our business.

This position focuses on providing technical and project management leadership with siting, permitting and evaluating environmental impacts of energy projects (capital projects and compliance strategies and implementation). Clean Water Act section 316 (b) regulatory program experience is a plus. Projects are often fast-paced, multi-faceted, and geographically diverse, and may include oil and gas pipeline, low carbon capital development, solar, onshore wind, offshore wind, energy storage and transmission. The position will require the candidate to work both independently and on project teams, and to possess the capacity to manage varying priorities and multiple tasks to work on concurrent projects and meet project deadlines. The candidate will serve as a Project Manager on multi-disciplinary projects with people management requirements as well as focus on the commercial development of ERM’s business. This position has growth potential into our Partner-track or Technical Director programs, depending on experience, interest, and qualifications.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Working with clients to define, target and develop opportunities within the ERM system, including working with existing ERM account managers and delivery teams to expand existing accounts and opportunities.


• Managing large, complex, multidisciplinary or global projects. Demonstrating strong project management skills and oversight through the project lifecycle, including scoping, budget and delivery.


• Demonstrating strong analytical skills, excellent writing and presentation skills, and a mastery of impactful client communication (i.e., technical and commercial communication skills).


• Building strong and trusted relationships with clients and/or business partners.


• Working with ERM’s North America LCET Leadership team and client Account Directors and Account Managers to contribute to robust, proactive Go-to-Market programs to drive commercial growth for capital projects as the energy sector responds to this changing landscape.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelors or Masters degree in environmental science, engineering or related field.


• Minimum of 15 years of experience in either a consulting environment or working substantially within the energy sector.


• Recognized technical expertise and an established reputation in the local (Gulf Coast) geography.


• In-depth understanding of the energy sector and the companies operating in this market, including existing relationships that can be leveraged into new business.


• Desire to develop commercially.


• Demonstrated understanding of the energy regulatory environment, key regulatory agencies, and current and emerging issues.


• Business acumen to understand business risks and challenges, and to recognize opportunities to provide facility specific and enterprise-wide, programmatic solutions for clients.


• Demonstrable record in delivering annual sales.


• Attention to detail and commitment to deliver quality work products.


• Demonstrated project management and leadership skills.


• Experience with line management and/or contributing to the professional development of other teammates.


• Enthusiasm, initiative, flexibility, and a desire to work in a growing team.
