Project: Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Epidemiology Surveillance Capacity (Activity #1)  

SUMMARY

The Nurse Manager will build and strengthen DPH’s capacity for healthcare infection control assessment and response, including DPH’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This position is grant-funded through April 2022.

This is a part time, non-benefitted position (20 hours per week). 

Employment is provided by Heluna Health.   

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The duties of the Nurse Manager include, but are not limited to:


  •  Implement cooperative agreement deliverables relating to HAI

  • Design, Implement, and disseminate infection control recommendations related to HAI prevention and emergency preparedness


  • Establish relationships with healthcare facilities and organizations including acute care hospitals and skilled nursing facilities




  • Coordinate efforts with California Department of Public Health HAI Program




  • Assist in the investigation and control of COVID-19 infections




  • Contribute to the Los Angeles County HAI plan




  • Conduct healthcare assessments and address gaps




  • Design and conduct trainings for external and internal (DPH) audiences



 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS 

Minimum Qualifications


  • A Master’s Degree from an accredited college in a field of Public Health, Health Administration or equivalent, and one year’s post master’s research experience -OR- a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a field of the health sciences and any combination of relevant education and/or experience totaling three years

  • A current active license to practice as a Registered Nurse issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing


  • A current certification in accordance with the American Heart Association’s Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers (CPR & AED) Program 



Desirable Qualifications



  • Experience with healthcare associated infections and disaster preparedness




  • Experience with the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN)




  • A minimum of five years of experience working in infection control




  • Strong interpersonal skills




  • Excellent writing and verbal communication




  • Leadership experience




  • Ability to develop and implement education and training 



Certificates/Licenses/Clearances



  • A valid California driver’s license, proof of vehicle insurance, and reliable transportation or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions




  • Successful Clearance of LA County Live Scan Process
