Reporting to the VP of Business Development (Corporate), this role is responsible for helping drive Zimmer Biomet’s (ZB) growth strategy by executing strategic and financially sound transactions which accelerate growth, enhance profitability and optimize the company’s use of capital. Specifically, this role identifies, analyzes and recommends attractive acquisition and divestiture opportunities and leads cross-functional teams to conduct the process of due diligence and deal closure. This role is responsible for building relationships with potential targets and effectively negotiating transactions. In addition, this position is responsible for building and leveraging internal and external relationships to ensure the successful execution of transactions.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

•Serve as a strategic advisor to ZB business teams to evaluate and execute business transactions in support of their strategic growth plans • Analyze strategic, financial and cultural fit of potential targets to the business portfolio, including standard financial model and valuation analysis • Lead business development transaction evaluation and execution, and support integration planning and execution in to the business • Screen, identify and force rank attractive opportunities for acquisitions of businesses within relevant markets and submarkets • Manage and lead cross functional and collaborative due diligence processes with business, regional and functional executives at all levels of seniority • Build Deal Model using standard financial model in partnership with business to ensure business has fully considered key variables such as pricing, adoption curves, expense build and synergies • Responsible for establishing contract strategy, including proposals for transaction terms and structure recommendations, and for directly negotiating transactions. • For any planned divestitures, orchestrate the full corporate divestiture process from decision to exit, process preparation, interaction with buyers to full divestiture execution • Collaborate with investment banks, consultants and external experts to identify and execute corporate portfolio projects, as needed • Demonstrate excellent analytical and conceptualization skills as well as understand ZB’s strategic objectives to assess business opportunities and their fit with company direction. • Utilize knowledge of competition, market, and product potential to seek out and recommend business development opportunities • Develop and maintains strong working relationships within ZB and effectively leverages those ties to get projects completed

Expected Areas of Competence

• Track record of successful business development deal execution with medical devices / healthcare industry background preferred • Ability to build strong internal relationships, serving as a key leadership team member, and external relationships, establishing relationships with high priority targets • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills • Excellent communication skills in presenting business development opportunities to senior leaders • Must be able to influence key decisions without having direct decision making authority • Possesses strong business and financial acumen • Demonstrates resilience to set backs and can operate effectively under high levels of ambiguity

Education/Experience Requirements

• B.A. or B.S. degree, preferably including formal studies in finance, business • MBA or work on an MBA is preferred. • 10+ years in Business Development, Finance, Investment Banking, and/or General Management experience in medical devices or healthcare. • A combination of education and experience will be considered.

Travel Requirements

Up to 30%
