Barnes Aerospace MRO East Granby has an exciting and challenging career opportunity for a Shot Peen/Painter. In this role you will perform diversified duties to shot peen and apply paint to aircraft parts as well as cross train to learn and perform additional functions. This position requires experience, initiative and ingenuity and the ability to work independently to produce the highest level of quality and productivity against established standards. You will work constructively with Engineering, participate in company meetings, and make effective recommendations towards improvements in processes and overall productivity. Core Responsibilities:



  • Perform a variety of duties to set up and apply paint, coating, Antigal or dry film lubricant to aircraft components and operate equipment used to pre-stress aircraft components and to compress surface areas and strengthen material to meet production schedules, complying with customer requirements and FAA regulations.

  • Interpret work orders, engine manuals, and blueprints to determine information such as type of operations and sequence of operations required.

  • Maintain spray booth equipment, tear down and rebuild with replacement parts as required, check and replace filters in booth, check and clean hoses, maintain logs and record all operation and use of hazardous material. Perform routine maintenance of shot peen equipment checking for wear on machine parts such as hoses, guns, etc., greasing equipment, and maintaining hydraulic fluid levels.

  • Work with Engineering to develop programs, determine new methods, develop parameters and determine material type for new or modified products.

  • Detect faulty operations and materials and report these and other problems to immediate supervisor.

  • Comply with all company and safety rules and regulations

  • In addition to Shot Peen/Painter duties, cross training will be required to learn and perform other duties as necessary.

  • Provide training to others as required.



Qualifications:




  • 1-3 years in aerospace environment desirable

  • Good mathematical skills

  • Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and technical documents

  • Strong attention to detail, ability to multitask, good communications skills



Education Requirements:



  • High school diploma or equivalent required.



This position is a safety sensitive position. Applicant must comply with all applicable FAA and DOT drug and alcohol testing rules.


Shift: Monday - Friday 3:00pm - 11:30pm
