Central Sterile Specialist -- Urology at 87th (full time) at Vancouver Clinic

Job Description:

Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 including two doses of a 2-dose series or a single dose of a 1-dose series prior to start date. Fully vaccinated is defined as 14 days post series completion date.

The full time Central Sterile Tech with Urology at 87th Ave processes, sterilizes, and maintains reusable instruments. Follows recommended and mandated procedures to ensure the safety and sterility of reusable instruments.

Instrument Care


  • Cleans and sterilizes surgical instruments according to Clinic procedure.


  • Cleans and disinfects flexible endoscopes according to vendor recommendations and Clinic procedures.


  • Assembles procedure instrument sets for the ASC based on provider preference and Clinic protocol.


  • Maintains equipment in good working order.


  • Assists in trouble shooting problems with flexible endoscopes and surgical equipment.


  • Monitors instruments for quality and seeks repair or replacement.


Quality Assurance


  • Maintains current knowledge of disinfection/sterilization technique through continuing education and professional equipment.


  • Represents the department as needed on Clinic committees such as Infection Control.


  • Performs quality control procedures on a routine basis and documents according to established procedures.


Communication


  • Serves as Clinic resource for information regarding care and maintenance of instruments.


  • Works with Clinic managers in maintaining adequate supply and purchase of new instruments.


  • Works with surgical staff and providers to prepare adequate instrumentation for daily procedures.


EDUCATION AND SKILLS


  • High school diploma or equivalent required


  • Detailed and procedure oriented required


  • Ability to work independently and adhere to specific guidelines


  • Previous experience in an ambulatory surgery center or central sterile services, preferred


  • Certificate of completion from a formal central sterile processing technology course, preferred


  • National certification, preferred


  • Must have predictable and reliable attendance
