Job Description:

We are looking for a strong candidate with a background in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biophysics, or Bioengineering to contribute to a team within Consumables Development.  As a Research Associate 1, you will support the development of sequencing consumables and systems based on our proprietary technology.   Candidates should have strong experimental and quantitative skills, with the capability to plan experiments, analyze and present experimental data, and contribute to cross-disciplinary teams.

Job duties include but are not limited to:


  • Plan and execute consumable development experiments to address project deliverables

  • Conduct and analyze sequencing runs to evaluate product quality

  • Analyze data from sequencing runs using proprietary Illumina software, custom scripts, and off-the-shelf programs such as Excel and JMP

  • Build expertise in core consumables chemistry and process, and in Illumina sequencing technologies

  • Maintain a lab notebook to track experimental details

  • Prepare and present results and conclusions in cross-functional team meetings

  • Collaborate closely within multidisciplinary teams

  • Apply problem-solving and data analysis skills to provide useful information and recommendations to cross-functional teams

Skills


  • A sound foundation in molecular biology, chemistry, materials science, or a related subject

  • Experience with data analysis and statistics, and solid computer skills (experience with scripting languages such as Python or R is a plus)

  • Ability to conduct biological/ chemical assays and to operate laboratory equipment

  • Demonstrated time management and organizational skills

  • Excellent communication skills and team player

  • A desire to be part of a fast-paced, dynamic development environment

  • Must be passionate about troubleshooting, data analysis, and problem-solving

Education


  • The ideal candidate will have a BS or BA in the Biological Sciences, Biophysics, Chemistry, or related disciplines

  • Hands-on research experience in a (bio)chemistry/molecular biology lab or in an industry setting is strongly preferred
