Summary of Major Responsibilities

The Systems Software Engineer I works with the Systems Development team to assist in the design, development, and testing software used in medical devices. Additional responsibilities include assisting in the development of internal software tools used in R&D, service, or quality control. The position will involve writing software to control robotic pipettors. Other assignments will include writing software in a higher-level language to process and analyze data from the pipettor or other data sources.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Follow all aspects of the software development lifecycle.
  • Implement software specifications.

  • Write and review software design control documents as needed.

  • Debug, review, maintain and improve the performance of existing software of moderate complexity.

  • Code software modules of moderate complexity with associated unit tests typically in C#.

  • Create internal software tools to enhance data analysis and data management productivity.

  • Create and enhance software that controls robotic pipettors in a research setting and for a high throughput lab.

  • Work collaboratively in teams.

  • Apply professional written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or related field.

  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship

  • Experience or coursework in a high-level programming language.

  • Experience or coursework in any embedded software area such as controlling robotics.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Internship as a software developer

  • Experience or coursework in software beyond the introductory level.

  • Experience or project courses developing embedded software.
