Creative Services Director - KGUN

KGUN and KWBA, the EW Scripps affiliate ABC and CW stations in Tucson, AZ is looking for a positive, proactive, collaborative, and highly engaged individual to join our team as a Creative Services Director (CSD). The CSD is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of the Creative Services department, working collaboratively in constructing the stations’ creative direction and content, as well as the responsibility for continuing development and growth of the creative services team.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:


  • Oversee the brand image, strategy, and execution, including supervising all aspects of station promotions and marketing using on-air, online, and outside media resources.


  • Responsible for the development of promotional strategic plans, multi-media marketing plans, promotional News campaigns, and general programming promotions.


  • Develop web-based promotions and actively monitor the image of station’s website.


  • Supervise and schedule day-to-day activities in the Promotion Department.


  • Liaison and collaborate with network and syndicators regarding the station’s promotional activities.


  • Coordinate and collaborate commercial production and sales promotions with the Sales Department.


  • Develop and coordinate viewer-related contests for station.


  • Develop and monitor annual budgets for Creative Services Department.


  • Lead and critique creative concepts (both design and copy), providing strong art direction for the creative team on content that is being developed and providing guidance with copywriting.


  • Lead, guide, direct and provide creative feedback to a team of designers cultivating and developing design and layout skills.


  • Cultivate and support a passionate and driven creative team that has the strong desire to always design and execute best in class work.


  • Provide leadership, training, and knowledge in all online, digital experience with display ads, websites, landing pages, print, branding, motion, and video work.


  • Responsible for coordination of all third-party vendors, including setting service agreements and budgets in collaboration with the creative leadership team.


  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by station GM and corporate management.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:


  • A Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, or other related field is preferred, or an equivalent business experience.



  • A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible multimedia creative/management experience in the areas of promotion, production and/or creative services for medium to large market.


    • Preferred: previous supervisory and/or managerial experience.



  • A proven professional record for development of successful marketing concepts and branding efforts is a necessity.

  • Identifies key barriers/core problems and applies problem-solving skills in order to deal creatively with complex situations.


  • Thinks strategically to be competitive and innovative in a crowded marketplace. Troubleshoots and resolves complex problems to successful outcomes.


  • Operates with considerable latitude; independently performs assignments to results expected; determines and develops approach to solutions.


  • Possess expert skills in Creative Suite (Adobe Creative Cloud-Photoshop, After Effects, Motion applications) software programs.


  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office, and social media programs.


  • Ability to collaborate well in a team and make decisions quickly during any type of coverage.


  • Ability to work independently, and effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment by remaining calm under pressure.
