Position Description:

The Associate Director, Accounting Systems will use their strong accounting and systems knowledge to enhance new and existing accounting processes and be responsible for identifying and managing technology related activities/projects. They will collaborate with the Accounting and Procurement teams to identify their needs and partner with Digital Transformation and IT to implement or improve existing process and/or systems.

Position Requirements:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Define, implement, and support accounting strategies to ensure efficient and effective use of tools, processes, and technologies.
• Lead system related projects/enhancements and provide business analysis for accounting team activities related to technology projects (implementations, upgrades/enhancements, product evaluations, ongoing maintenance, etc.).
• Develop detailed business user requirements, system documentation and workflow procedures.
• Consult with Accounting to develop understanding of their business needs and how they can be supported by the Accounting systems.
• Develop end-to-end process documentation and identify enhancements to existing or new processes.
• Manage accounting related aspects of SAP S/4HANA, reporting and related accounting systems including SAP Analytics Cloud, FloQast, ADP, Workday and eTrade in collaboration with Digital Transformation and IT.
• Partner with Digital Transformation on governance process, strategic planning and accounting systems technology roadmap.
• Partner with various stakeholders to implement and maintain a master-data-management strategy and governance associated with financial reporting systems.
• Provide user technical and business support including ideas and recommendations regarding the use of systems as well as their further development.
• Manage external consultants hired to enhance accounting functionality and ensure they deliver high quality services/tools on a timely basis.
• Develop, provide, or coordinate training, educational tools, and materials.
• Acts as liaison with Accounting, FP&A, Digital Transformation, IT and/or outside vendors as appropriate in support of the processes and systems.
• Drive continuous improvement efforts and initiate enhancements, both process and system related.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide direction to other individuals.
• Supervises staff, including hiring, scheduling, and assigning work, reviewing performance, and
recommends salary increases, promotions, transfers, demotions, or terminations.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
Education:
• Bachelor's degree in related discipline and ten years of related experience; or
• Master's degree in related discipline and eight years of related experience; or,
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:
• Experience with ERP systems, SAP S/4HANA preferred.
• Experience in the pharmaceutical and biotech industries preferred.

Knowledge/Skills:
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with experience applying these skills to resolve operational accounting process and system issues.
• Strong project management skills and an ability to effectively manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
• Ability to understand business challenges and proactively recommend solutions.
• Understanding of US GAAP and SOX 404 compliance.
• Leadership skills with an ability to mentor a team and coach them for success.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills needed to interface and establish rapport with all levels of the organization.
• Comfort and experience in a fast-paced environment.
• Results and goal-oriented mindset with an opportunistic eye towards driving continuous improvements.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Environment: primarily working indoors in an office environment
