Zoetis U.S. Petcare is one of the largest businesses within Zoetis' worldwide operations. We focus on maximizing the value of our broad veterinary solutions portfolio by building and sustaining relevant partnerships with veterinarians, large corporate accounts, and pet owners. Based on our business model and operating environment we bring more than just medicines, services, and expertise to the marketplace - we deploy a range of targeted activities to support our solutions offerings in meeting the needs of our customers. These activities include a large (500+) direct sales field force, strategic account team that helps veterinarians better run and grow their business, aligned professional services team providing technical veterinary support directly to customers, a dedicated Major Accounts team, and novel offerings that differentiate us from competitors.

We are seeking a highly capable individual for a Business Development Lead, Corporate & Specialty Division. Primary responsibilities include evaluation of emerging business opportunities within corporate and specialty hospitals, negotiating agreements that unlock mutual growth and upscaling current business opportunities (both in-line and adjacent) within current accounts.

Responsibilities


  • Managing both our existing customer base for expansion opportunities (in-line and adjacent) and developing new business opportunities with emerging partners

  • Take a lead role in the development of proposals and presentations to create and nurture business opportunities and partnerships

  • Identify trends and customer needs, building a short/medium/long-term sales pipeline in accordance with business priorities

  • Assist in the coordination and implementation of marketing and medical strategies, that achieve strategic goals for partners and Zoetis


  • Monitor and evaluate industry trends and customer drivers and meet regularly with key stakeholders to discuss strategy

  • Manage proposal response process, including detailed RFP requirements, content creation, and inputs from various sources

  • Generate new leads, identify and contact decision-makers, screen potential business opportunities, select the deals in line with strategies, and lead new partnerships.

  • Develop and implement overarching outbound sales and business development strategy, sales processes, structure, and best practices across the team

  • Support deal structure and pricing that maximizes Zoetis GTN and provides wins across the portfolio of products and solutions.

  • Maintain and share professional knowledge through education, networking, events, and presentations

  • Identify proficiency gaps within current team and design and deliver training to increase performance

  • Ensure seamless transition of new partners to aligned account teams

Education and Experience


  • Undergraduate degree (BS/BA)

  • 10 years proven record of accomplishments including successful sales management and strategy execution experience.

  • Animal Health experience and knowledge of companion animal veterinary medicine preferred

  • Ability and willingness to travel overnight approximately at least 20-25% of the time to include some weekends

Technical Skills


  • Consistently proven track record in previous roles including managing talent, executing designated initiatives, and creatively finding opportunities or solving problems to drive sales performance.

  • Extensive knowledge of Zoetis products and the animal health industry or ability to learn quickly.

  • Ability to work in a cross-functional team-based environment, align with and influence internal and external stakeholders, and build / manage relationships at all levels of an organization.

  • Adept at working in highly fluid, complex, and ever-changing environments.

  • Drives strategy from insight and analytics to tactical execution and measures the results.

  • Project / process management Exceptional verbal, written, presentation, interpersonal, and communication skills.

  • Ability to exercise good judgment and make thoughtful / fair decisions based on relevant information

  • Proficient computer skills (MS Office, Outlook, PP, and ability to learn Zoetis systems)

  • Headquarters and cross-functional experience a plus (e.g., product marketing, new product marketing, business development).

  • Ability to interact with and influence Senior Management, peers and other functions

  • Strong analytical thinking, problem solving skills, business acumen and attention to detail
