Job Description:

Drive major strategic projects as defined by the Diagnostics and US Petcare Leadership Teams. This will be a highly visible role with direct impact on the evolution of our market leading US Petcare business. The role will provide the candidate broad exposure across US Petcare and our Diagnostics Business commercial operations with collaboration opportunities across Zoetis. Projects may include developing the long-term strategic plans, lead market trend assessment and customer analysis, business model innovation, marketing and sales initiatives, and business development (M&A, strategic partnerships).

The Senior Manager, Strategic Initiatives must partner across the organization and develop collaborative relationships. They will support the development and socialization of plans, work with the Head of Strategic Initiatives to secure Leadership endorsement, and support execution where necessary. Projects will be defined to enhance value for our customers and our business with a focus towards driving new business, acquiring customers, increasing loyalty and usage, and/or changing the way we do business. They will also be the strategic thought partner for the US Diagnostics Leadership team.

To be successful, the ideal candidate must be self-motivated, detail-oriented and must be comfortable in an environment of balancing multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

Leading the Business

• Develop and refining the long-term business unit strategic priorities supporting Petcare Rx and Diagnostic business leaders


• Lead process for developing and delivering detailed business and operational plans for select strategic initiatives


• Manage and track Business Development initiatives and support the review and assessment of inorganic opportunities to enhance the business including M&A targets, license and acquisition opportunities and R&D development collaborations


• Track and document key trends in the marketplace including major competitive moves, customer investment, industry M&A, and new entrants


• Develop, facilitate, and execute Leadership workshops as they relate to select strategic initiatives


• Collaborate with colleagues in Finance, Marketing, Sales, Veterinary Professional Services, Business Operations, Accelerated Growth Businesses, Business Development, Global Commercial Development, Legal and other functions to ensure that relevant stakeholders are participating in the decision making and implementation processes.


• Communicate effectively within Zoetis to ensure alignment and help drive the business while driving approval of strategic objectives


• Analyze data and makes appropriate recommendations for action that supports improving initiative results and understanding longer-term business impact.

Education and Experience

These qualifications, experiences, and skills are highly desirable; however, they do not preclude exceptions based on an individual's performance history and demonstrated potential.

• BS /BA and relevant experience is required.


• 5-7 years of related experience with proven record of success in management consulting, investment banking, or corporate strategy.


• Experience working with cross-functional teams in developing and executing strategic initiatives

• Ability to prioritize projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.


• Strong process and project management skills to drive complex, cross-functional projects that require input from many internal and external stakeholders.


• Strong financial analysis skills, business acumen, analytical thinking, problem-solving skills with attention to detail.


• Strong oral, written and interpersonal communications skills; ability to interact with and influence Senior Management, peers and other functions with confidence and conviction.


• Strong computer skills (MS Office and ability to learn Zoetis/ systems).


• Ability to travel internal and external meetings, conventions, tradeshows, and customer interactions (>20%).
