Job Description:

Location: Torrance, CA

Description: Our client is currently seeking a R&D Technician


This position is responsible for new product development and product testing within R&D. Hands-on skills are essential, especially in wet chemical handling, both to test and undertake experimentation in the development of new products.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Undertakes basic and complex experimental testing, especially hands-on work in wet chemical mixing, formulation, polymerization techniques and handling.

Participates in performing experimental designs and needs good observation skills.

Provide experimental summaries as required.

Interfaces with engineers and other technicians

Conduct hand, laboratory, and pilot scale formulation trials

Obtain raw materials and perform weighing; follow the instructions to conduct product development trials and pilot batches.

Perform product development equipment set-up, operation, and clean-up.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Track formulations. Modify formulations as instructed by formulators.

Maintain documentation on trial batches.
Qualifications & Requirements:

• 1-3 years+ experience in an R&D/ Technical environment
  
  Experience in Chemical handling and product testing
  
  Self-motivation and the ability to motivate others in pursuit of solutions
  
  Willingness to do hands-on wet chemical work on a daily basis
  
  Ability to learn fast
  
  An interest in technology generally
  
  Must be responsible, organized and attentive to detail
  
  Quality focused
  
  Can-do/Results count attitude
  
  Good communication skills(written and verbal)
  
  Ability to work independently
  
  Able to organize time for multiple tasks
  
  Will follow-through with commitments

  A PLUS TO HAVE:
  
  
  Experience in the ophthalmic lens industry.
  
  Analytical testing background
  
  Associate degree in Chemistry
  
  Experience in a chemical formulation/ testing laboratory.
  
  PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  
  Ability to perform procedures as required ensuring safe and efficient processes.
  
  Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  
  Some duties require constant standing for hours at a time.
  
  Sufficient auditory and verbal skills to assume required responsibilities.
  
  Sufficient ability to enter and be present in all administration and production areas of the building.
