Position Summary

POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Purchasing Agent is responsible for acting as back-up to the Purchasing Manager. The position may negotiate pricing and terms with suppliers, report any data requested by Management, interrogate new work statements for best component pricing utilizing leverage, contracts, supply base relationships and other knowledge. The Senior Purchasing Agent will also carry out Purchasing Agent functions such as managing a workbench, product status, supporting program management, managing inventory levels, working across departments to find best solutions and/or ideas for Kanban/JIT activity, MRB reduction, savings initiatives and non-demand utilization. This position is an individual contributor with no supervisory responsibilities. Decision-making is independent on day-to-day activities with supervision sought on unusual or unexpected situations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage assigned commodity


• Ensure all items are on order and being delivered at the appropriate time for minimum inventory exposure and maximum benefit to the machine shop


• Manage special projects such as Continuous Improvement, Inventory Reduction, Process Improvement, Savings Initiatives, Corporate Initiatives (such as In-sourcing)


• Reporting such as YTD spend, RNN, Supplier OTD, Management support

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Associate's Degree in business or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience


• Five (5) years experience in supply chain, purchasing and or procurement


• Five (5) years experience in Aerospace or Manufacturing


• Proficient in Excel, Word, Project and Access


• Preferred aerospace hardware procurement experience


• Preferred Syteline ERP experience

QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization


• Ability to communicate clearly and persuasively with employees, internal organizations, vendors and customers


• Ability to negotiate options and solutions with positive outcomes for the customer and the organization


• Skilled in working across multiple company departments, as well as with customers and vendors
