Learn how to operate our drinking water treatment plant in Norristown, PA. As a Maintenance and Plant Operator, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining chemical feed equipment, valves, pumps process equipment and more. You will monitor the quality and quantity of the water being produced and make sure it runs smoothly through our system to your home. As an Operator, you will perform water quality sampling, adjust chemicals and perform routine checks.

Primary Role



Performs and/or assists with repairs to and maintenance of equipment and facilities such as, but not limited to, centrifugal and positive displacement machinery, transducers, recorders, data collection devices, diesel engines, generators, chemical feed equipment, analytical measuring devices, electrical distribution equipment, piping systems, process control equipment, telemetry equipment, etc.





Key Accountabilities




  • Performs and/or assists with repairs to and maintenance of equipment and facilities such as, but not limited to, centrifugal and positive displacement machinery, transducers, recorders, data collection devices, diesel engines, generators, chemical feed equipment, analytical measuring devices, electrical distribution equipment, piping systems, process control equipment, telemetry equipment, etc. 

  • Performs calibration and routine maintenance of control systems including troubleshooting and diagnostics of related software and hardware. 

  • Maintains the appearance of facilities and grounds in accord with company standards. 

  • Prioritizes and coordinates tasks and/or activities required for the efficient, safe, and reliable operation of treatment and pumping facilities and related appurtenances. 

  • Receives and distributes chemicals in accord with established company, state, and/or federal safety standards and/or practices. 

  • May be assigned to perform any responsibility that lies within the capabilities of the employee based on experience, knowledge, qualifications, and training.




Knowledge/Skills




  • Working knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, computer theories, applications, and hardware configurations.

  • Thorough understanding of the distribution system network including, but not limited to, gradients, capacities, interconnections, mapping, service territory and facility locations to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation and maintenance of water treatment facilities and related appurtenances.

  • Working knowledge of company policies, procedures, and safety practices, as well as state and federal regulations applicable to area of responsibility including, but not limited to, OSHA.




Experience/Education




  • At least 4 years of experience working as a maintenance mechanic or have demonstrated  equivalent experience. 

  • Required to pass an initial and annual OSHA medical examination




Work Schedule/Hours




  • Will train on day shift and transition to second shift

  • Second shift- Sunday-Thursday, 3pm-11pm EST
