Process Design Engineer at Hemlock Semiconductor Ops LLC

Job Summary:


Member of the chemical engineering discipline on the project engineering team of the Portfolio Management Office. Process Design works closely with the project sponsor and stakeholders to develop a detailed understanding of the goals of the project, evaluate alternatives and deliver thorough project definition providing a roadmap for the execution of detailed design. Primarily responsible for completing front end loading on projects (FEL1 – FEL3). Also provides support for relief valve file updates and PHA activities. 


Essential Functions:



  1. Developing detailed project charters and scope through sponsor interviews 

  2. Identifying, evaluating and recommending alternatives for technology, cost and operability 

  3. Application of simulation tools/design software as well as the design, sizing and specification of the necessary equipment 

  4. Developing piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) and Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) 

  5. Identification and application of all applicable internal and external standards, codes and regulation 

  6. Execution of all required process hazard assessments to ensure safety in designs 

  7. Facilitation of the assembly of the process design package at the completion of front-end definition 

Additional Responsibilities:



  1. Support PHA activities as directed. 

  2. Support relief valve file updates as directed. 

  3. Complete work orders as directed. 

  4. Support the development and maintenance of process design EET’s as directed.  

  5. Accountable for completing the deliverables for projects that are supported. 

  6. Remain current on HSC process design SSGs.
