The SIXINCH USA (subsidiary of Wieland Designs) craft coating studio creates unique, one of a kind furniture pieces for pro sports teams, colleges, backstage VIP concert venues and upscale workspaces.

Position Statement:

This position requires a multi-skilled individual capable of completing task related to the process of spray coatings. In completing these duties, they will be flexible and respond as necessary based on workloads, special projects, absences, etc. This also includes cross training to other production functions in the coating and main plant as needed. The supervisor may assign other job-related duties that are not defined here. Increased independence and proficiency are expected as employee learns job described. This shift is Monday to Thursday from 4:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Located at the SIXINCH USA plant at 2117 W. Wilden Avenue, Goshen, IN 46526.

Interpersonal Skills:


  • Demonstrate appropriate external customer-supplier relations when presented the opportunity (suppliers, repairmen, plant tours, co-workers).

  • Work with production supervision to plan schedules and access equipment and material needs.

  • Demonstrate coaching, motivation, and other leadership skills.

  • Ability to read and write English.

  • Accurate math skills, with the ability to perform basic computations such as addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.

  • Ability to read a tape measure.

  • Competent oral and written communications skills.

  • Ability to access issues and solve practical problems.

  • Ability to accommodate flexible work hours including overtime as needed.

  • Dependability in work performance and attendance.

  • Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.

  • Some shipping experience preferred


  • To learn and assist in entire coating application process from start to finish.

  • To read and understand production schedules including adjusting the schedules based on materials on hand, process times, and ship dates. 

  • Always demonstrate flexibility with personal work schedule to accommodate needs of production.

  • Properly prepare chemicals for production according to written standards and processes.

  • Uniformly apply wet chemicals to products using care to avoid over spraying and to obtain a smooth, even surface, free from runs and thin spots.

  • Visually check products for pin holes, runs, thin/bare spots and repair as needed.

  • Produce daily A/B chemical test sheet and label.

  • Preform cleaning and maintenance of spray application equipment, booths, fans, filters, and air compressor according to established practices and schedules.

  • Train others on coating duties and responsibilities.

  • Assist or direct others in performance of work.

  • Log daily production into Epicor computer environment.

  • Maintain and use Personal Protective Equipment such as but not limited to: Respirators, Tyvek suits, Hats, Gloves, and Protective eyewear.

Physical demands:


  • This job position requires the physical ability to continuously lift 20-50 pounds and, occasionally lift products that could exceed 200 pounds (with the help of others).

  • It also requires bending over to pick up items and working in a standing position for the entire 10-hour shift.

  • Must have good visual ability in order to determine colors, shapes, and defects in materials.  

  • Some spray applications require a full body suit and face respirator be worn at all time. Must be able to meet this demand and preform for the duration of the scheduled shift.

Aptitudes:


  • Must be able to Read English.

  • Must be able to process procedures on the computer.

  • Must have the mental aptitudes to learn new processes and follow procedures.

  • Must have the mental ability to perform basic math functions.

  • Must have the mental ability to communicate information to internal customers accurately in verbal and written formats.

Work environment:


  • General environment has some noise produced from spray booth fans, spray equipment, machinery, forklift, and semi-tractor engines.

  • Environment also contains small dust particles associated with a normal manufacturing operation.

  • Environment maintains a chemical odor due to spray applications and painting process.

  • Department is not air-conditioned. Must be able to work in a non-air-conditioned production plant. Temperatures can range from 60 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit as well as low and high humidity ranges.

  • Snack machines and vending trucks are not available at the coating plant. A break room with refrigerator and microwave are provided.
