Chief Operations Officer - Curascript Specialty Distribution at Cigna

Job Description:

The Chief Operations Officer is responsible for oversight of the entire supply chain operation supporting the CuraScript Specialty Distribution (CSD) business unit. Responsibilities are critical to cost-effective and regulatory compliant management of drug inventory and expense budget spanning the following areas:


  • Warehousing, Inventory Receipt, and Pick/Pack and Ship Operations


  • Procurement, Demand Forecasting and Inventory Management


  • Accounts Receivable, Collections and Customer Credit Evaluations


  • Pharma Contract Implementation and Administration


  • Quality Process and Regulatory Compliance


  • Reimbursement Hub Operations


  • Technology (dotted line to centralized enterprise technology organization)


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


  • Contribute to effective revenue generation and margin optimization for CSD. Responsible for measurement and improvement of key operational and financial indicators of Divisional EBITDA and overall capital performance of the business.


  • Oversee the talent strategy of the operations function, managing the leaders to attract, recruit, and retain an inspired, motivated and engaged workforce to execute against the mission and strategy as well as create succession talent pipelines for the future growth and maturation of the business.


  • Interface extensively with both internal partners (Sales, Finance and other functions) and external audiences (Physician customers and Pharma clients) to assure cost effective service and contract compliance. Interface frequently with C-Suite level representatives of Physician customers and Pharma clients as well as many internal peers and Senior Leadership across the Enterprise.


  • Assures regulatory compliance with various Federal and State regulatory agencies including the Drug Enforcement Agency as well as 50 State Boards of Pharmacy.


  • Partner with the Enterprise's Technology team to execute our technology strategy and ensure capabilities to remain competitive in the distribution market.


  • Serve as a key participant on enterprise Senior Leadership Team providing input on the strategic future of the organization and involved in all major strategic decisions.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • 15+ years health care experience with at least 10 years of experience related to Specialty and/or Healthcare Distribution.


  • Extensive experience managing large and complex operations organizations. Experience managing leaders at all levels, up to Senior Director as well as individual contributors is required.


  • BA/BS Degree required and MBA preferred.


  • Operational and process improvement mindset with expert knowledge of the Specialty Distribution markets.


  • Experience in SAP 4/HANA preferred.


  • Proven ability to meet high quality standards.


  • Strong financial, process and analytics acumen.


  • Ability to effectively lead teams and optimize talent management.


  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to develop/lead cross-functional teams and partners.


  • Willingness to engage and build strong relationships with Senior/ C-Suite level representatives of both internal and external audiences (Physician customers, GPO Executives, Partner organizations and Pharma clients).


  • Strong business acumen and problem solving skills.


  • Ability to manage and lead unique and complex projects in a fast paced organization.


  • Ability to work under pressure and make decisions in a timely manner.


  • Ability to work effectively with executives and senior management on complex issues.


This role is WAH/Flex which allows most work to be performed at home. Employees must be fully vaccinated if they choose to come onsite.

This position is not eligible to be performed in Colorado.
